Hi, I have been in to Coker tires website to buy some 15" and 16" Firestone bias plys and they are out of stock in almost any dimension. What is going on there? Anybody who knows? /J.B.
Initially I would have thought Inventory time, but it being a time of Supply Chain and Logistics, I would conclude its a FireStone issue.
Yea I also thought they made the firestones? I would call and ask, they should give you a straight answer.
Try Universal Tire in PA. They might have stock. The manufacturer of the bias ply tires we use is said to be Specialty Tire, also in PA. They might be having issues there.
Yeah, I will have to call both Coker and Universal tomorrow when they are open. I was just surprised, since these tires must be some of the bigger sellers and therefore usually kept in stock. I just need to know if they are in stock at Universal before I place an order. Otherwise my money is stuck there while waiting for a back order.
They have also, upgraded their website and to me, makes it tougher to find what your looking for. Might be imagination or one fingered brain.
Coker owns universal as well, actually they own almost all the repop tire companies. A quick phone call should get you the answer
That's the truth. I ordered from Universal last spring cause I could not navigate the Coker site and find the right tubes to match the tires. and it turned out the shipping charges from PA to NJ were way better than Coker to NJ anyway.
I had a simular issue with Coker when I orderd my wheel and tire combo. They had the tires in stock (WWW radial Coker Cl***ics) but not the steelie wheels. Don't get me wrong, I am sure Coker is a great company and I sure many people have had a lot of luck with them. Unfortuatly, my experience with them was less than favorable. They strung me along for 6 months. I called them every 2 weeks for a status update and they would say, "we will have your wheels in 2 weeks". Six months later....no wheels! 6 months! Finally, I had them send me the tires and I ordered my wheels from Wheel Vintiques. They had a set of 4 in stock and ready to deliever. Like I said, I am sure Coker is a good company and I hate bad mouthing anyone, I am just telling you my experience. It turns out they knew all along they counldn't get the steelie wheels and there was a m***ive back order on them. I just wish they would have been honest with me from the beginning. In the future I will do business with an honest company.
First off, let me say I love Coker Tire and have bought lots of sets from them for maybe 25 years or so. They always treated me right and sold me a good product. I even had the pleasure of talking on the phone to Corkey himself one time and found him to be a very nice, down to earth man .......like someone you knew forever. I didn't think the receptionist would put my call actually to Corkey, but she did and I was shocked that he was that approachable. A lot of CEO's hide from their customers, he did not. I think if you call them you will find out why they might be temporarily out of those sizes. They have always given me the straight scoop, be it good or bad news. The info posted above about them buying Wheel Vintiques surprises me if it is true because WV has had inconsistencies in their wheels from time to time. We had some that were crooked right out of the box. Coker went to Superior Wheel and we have had good luck with those. Maybe if Coker did buy them they will correct some of the manufacturing issues and WV wheels will become better for it. And yes, I agree the website is hard to navigate. Of course to me an electric toothbrush is high tech, so it just might be me. Don
I met Harry Coker about 4 years ago at a friends house. He filled me in on just how many tire/wheel companies they actually own. To sum it up, basically if your buying a vintage tire or wheel, 99% of the time it's from them. They own just about everything
I was in a bit of a hurry to order the tires to be shipped together with my new car overseas. Never seen before that every single Firestone bias plys tire was being out of stock and since I guess 90% of the HAMB people buy their tires from them in one way or another, someone here might know of any Coker issues. Of course I will call them, but they are still closed for another day. Thanks for all input, guys. I have bought tires from Coker for many years and never had any issues. And yes, their new website is really bad....
I'll second this. Coker does it right. They nearly have a monopoly on the vintage tire market and they still go out of their way.
Didn't know that about the wv purchase. But I believe it ad I called wv last week and talked to hector, who I normally deal with at coker.
Hey guys we should have most everything in stock. Occasionally we will run out, but we try real hard to have it when you need it. J.B. shoot me an PM on what you need. i bought coker tires from jegs they were coker brand cheaper than coker no taxes no shipping just a handling charge$13.00
I have used Coker for a long time and on occasion had to wait but only due to the fact I live in Canada. I too can buy them cheaper from a Canadian dealer than Coker themselves. I asked my dealer why and he gave me a cold stare and said think about it. Coker tire looks after their dealers and encourage you to buy from a dealer and this is why their retail pricing is higher. Most dealers buy more than four tires at a time and as many as one hundred at a time, makes sense to me. However when I have a question in regards to the tire I am ordering I alway call Coker for advise then let my dealer know exactly what I want. They are a stand up company and always very eager to please. This is JMO and I am a very happy customer.
Or it could be that the site is just blowing up on you. Try calling them. Sometimes those scripts get a glitch.
