    put fuel injection on it.

Even if you could, I don't think you'd like the results. Think of holding the gas pedal to the floor in neutral.

  5. I suppose you may be able to spray gas from a spray-mister bottle into the intake whilst cranking it. Might fire up. It does have a manifold, right?

You can probably get it to start for 2 seconds by spraying starting fluid in it but I have no idea what winterizing and what you're trying to? I'm from texas, we get to drive year round.

Get a mouth full of gas and spray it into the intake manifold while your buddy turns it over. If you get the mixture right it should fire!:D

Seriously, why do you need to run the engine to winterize? Can you just turn it over by hand?

Here in So Cal we winterize our cars by wearing a long sleeve shirt. :p

Does it really need to fire up and run ? Pull your spark plugs and you could spray some marine fogging oil into the intake as you crank over the engine and get some oil film on your cylinder walls.

If you'd even get it to run without a carb, it would run wide open.

Winterise, is that another word for sending a rod through the block?

It will run if you pour a teaspoon of fuel down the manifold throat. With a spray bottle as mentioned you can keep it running for a minute or more. Of course without a throttle valve you'll have no control over engine speed unless you you cut the ignition on and off to maintain some sort of control.I have done this....
Some very early gas aircraft engines had no carburetor so to speak and the pilot used the ignition cut out to control RPM.

I need fuel stabilizer, fresh oil, and antifreeze to run through there proper systems thats what I mean by winterize. My car hasn't run since like September.

If there's no carb on it, you need to plug the opening where the carb goes. DO NOT try to run it without a carb.

If it doesn't have sufficient antifreeze in it, or it's old antifreeze (more than a few years old), drain the cooling system now, and refill it in the spring. If the coolant is ok, just leave it alone.

Change the oil after you start it in spring.

    1.
add fuel stabilzer to your tank that is where you need it, no worry about the carb gunking up if you do not have one.
    2. change oil, pull plugs and squirt oil in each cyliner, you can turn the motor over by hand 3.add anti freeze to the block, stop when full...

Well, the fuel stabilizer isn't an issue, since you don't have a carb. A fuel system is the tank, the lines, the pump and the carb. With no carb, you have nothing for the fuel pump to pump into. I'm not being a dick when I say that... you don't want to be half-assing the whole "no carb" thing while pumping fuel into a tin can next to the engine. That's a disaster waiting to happen.
Drain the fuel pump and lines if you're worried about it, and dump some stabilizer into the tank.

For anti-freeze, I understand the desire to run fresh coolant through the engine, but without it running, you're next best bet is to drain all the coolant, completely. That should accomplish the same thing.

As for oil, you should have a junk distributor anyway, to turn into an oil primer: drain the oil, dump in fresh, put the primer in and spin it with a drill, just like you would if you were going to start the engine for the first time.

You should have a primer anyway, to fire the engine for the first time after taking it out of storage.

  20. Yeah.

All of the above can be done without running the engine. Really.

  21. Blades I was going to suggest using starter fluid and squirt it down the hole in the intake but then who would I fight with? :D

You can spin it with the starter, just take the plugs out and get after it.

Shit,no imaginative minds here...Be like the Flight of the Phoenix the aircraft crashes in th desert and the survivors rebuild it into something else so they can fly out to civilization. You'll just be sitting around whining about how dangerous it is.:D

But since they had a propellor, there was always a load on the engine...

Actually the prop would be kept spinning by the wind...

  25. sounds like the OP is going to alot of trouble to not buy a carb.. the mind works in strange ways. Why not just drain the gas tank and pull the engine and put it next to the kitchen stove for the winter?

Yes you can. Get a propane tank from a gas grill and the regulator and hose. Put the end of the hose where the carb should bolt on, and while someone is cranking the motor with the starter, open the valve on the propane tank a little. Once it starts you can regulate the speed by how far you open the propane tank valve.

    You've done this?

Think about it. The engine may fire initially, but with an unrestricted air supply, it's going to increase in RPM's until the mixture goes lean, since you're only regulating the fuel supply, not the air supply. This is how a diesel runs, using detonation to light the mix. Still think it's a good idea?
