    The almost buried car in front of the caboose seems to be a scale test car, used to check the accuracy of the railroad scales along the system. They are rather small (probably it's whole height is seen here) but real heavy.

    Farmers protesting the the low price of milk. My dad was a reporter for the local paper and covered the story here about that. They held a big demonstration saying that they might as well throw the milk away as the price they were getting did not cover their costs. This was in the mid to late 30's here in northern Wisconsin.

    Description

    Wiley Post standing up in cockpit and Harold Gatty on the plane, Winnie Mae, a Lockheed 5C Vega monoplane. Unidentified police officer on left. The plane was nicknamed "Around the World" because pilot Post and navigator Gatty set the record for flying around the world in the plane in June 1931. The flight took 8 days, 16 hours. Post set the solo round-the-world record of 7 days, 19 hours in July 1933.

    Harry Jones sits on the nose of his Sikorsky S-39 Amphibian Plan that has landed on an unidentified location/beach. Jones (1890-1973) operated an airport and flying service at Old Orchard Beach from 1919 to 1933
