I go with my buddies and we buy alot of muscle cars. People all the time say one like it sold on Barret Jackson for .......(insert rediculous sum here) Oh boy, here we go again the one that was like it was original Hemi 18,000 miles ,better color, 4-speed or car with fresh $45,ooo dollar frame off resto, what does that car have to do with that your car thats dissembled and incomplete on jackstands that has'nt run in 5 years ? You are not being an A-hole by bringing dreamers down to earth with facts about the cost of bringing things up to an good average running condition . Barret Jackson they turn away more cars than they sell at that auction ,because they are not up to the standards they have set. Setting down the cash with a no ******** offer and its going to someone who will get it running means alot if they have had it a long time but could never get it done .You can't buy sentimental value ,but if its going to the right buyer who knows whats right and what it needs matters alot . We have gone back before and taken some sellers for a ride later on they could'nt thank us enough and it means alot knowing that the car they loved is up and going .

good deal on the car , it looks shweeet , barett jackson gives people some ridiculous over inflated ideas on the values of vehicles , that showneeds to go back to never never land to be with the other fantasies

  8. If you and the seller agree to a price, $100, $1,000, and you sell it for $50, or $100,000, it's fair. So what if you make a profit, this isn't a communist country. Cutting it up would be the only crime.

Yuppers, cash green money talks, be backs and ******** walks. Way too many guys and I know one personally go out to look at and make deals on cars without a dime in their pocket and expect the seller to hold the car while they try to round up the money. The car came with the house and her hubby probably never spent a dime on it in that 20 years. That means she has 2200 bucks in her pocket that she doesn't have to answer to anyone for. The car is no doubt worth a bit more but who knows when someone would show up with more cash in the hand.

Thanks for not chopping up a survivor.

I'm probably in the minority here on the HAMB with this train of thought, but I don't care. I'm past the point of trying to impress people.

My heart breaks a bit each time I see or hear of anything (from a building to a car) that's survived for that long in good condition, getting hacked up.

Call me overly sentimental...call me a wuss....don't care.

You bought the car right. The sellers didnt do badly and you bought 2 vehicles from them. They had absolutely no investment in the A and they agreed to the price. The golden rule always applies, "he with the gold, makes the rules".

  18. Nice car, nice deal.
Funny how putting the money back in your pocket and walking away will motivate a seller.

I like the whole, "I don't know what it is, but I want 10 grand for it"

    That always cracks me up.

All it takes is a little extra lubricant to fit things in a tight spot!
Very true that the ole shrew did not have to be tamed unless she agreed to it!
Perhaps an A-model flattie scenario would fit her profile !
    Good dealin! You horn-swaggler you!

  24. Congrats on joining the model A owner ranks. These things can get into your soul.

I couldn't deal with real estate out there. I live in a really nice house that I paid just under 100k for. Out here 250+ buys really amazing places. Her house had vaulted ceilings and marble floors. Huge chandeliers and living rooms that didn't even get used. I would bet the Victorian furniture in her house was more than my whole place.. I say 250+ because I really don't know a value. Could have been $500k. She said they bought the place from a doctor.
