Its official, the Orange Drag Strip Reunion will return for 2012 and this years event will be held at the Fitchburg Airport, Fitchburg, MA. The show will again feature 330' drags, a pre-74 car show as well an area for static display cars and Orange Airport Dragstrip memorabilia. Vendor space is also available.

The Fitchburg location is well known as it is the same site of the ever popular Early V8 Club swap meet each spring. The Fitchburg location offers double the overall space of Orange and the track conditions are far better. There are plans to lengthen the shutdown area by 100', which will probably be a relief to many racers.

All racers and vendors are required to pre-register for 2012, with racing registrations to be capped at 150 total. Registrations are available now through the website, DragReunion.com

Thanks to everyone who made 2011 so great and hope to see you all again this Sept 8th!

Well John that's great to hear. I'm glad it's going to continue. Too bad Orange didn't work out. What's the real story with that.

Great news,John. I'll pass the word to folks in western Mass. I made the first two and won't miss this one.
As John L. said, last year was a good time.

There isn't to much story to tell, the move to Fitchburg made sense all the way around. However, if it had been possible I would have opted to stay in Orange. That unfortunately wasn't an option, as they are working on a long term solar farm lease that will completely cover the area we used last year. That may or may not come to pass, but in any case Fitchburg will be a winning combination. Once people make a few passes down that surface, I don't think there will be to much looking back.

That's awesome news !!! That was by far the best show I attended last year.
Drags, swap meet, car show. The only thing missing was a pin-up contest !!!

Good to hear, made a great weekend last year with the Tyrod's show on Sunday. Maybe they'll match up again or maybe we'll have to make a week out of it. Hehehehe

I just signed up! I had a great time the first two years, and I am looking forward to running at Fitchburg. Everytime I went to the spring swapmeet, I would look down at the air strip, and say: This would be a great place for a drag race. Thanks for making this happen John.

  16. A huge thank you to John for bringing the reunion back. After last year we all know that this event will be one of "THE" events to attend in 2012. I am already registered and will be looking forward to more of that seat of the pants style racing, no electronics, no time slips, no B.S. just line em up, watch the flag and go! It all makes being an old motorhead that much better! See you all there

  17. just marked my calender for this one. This will be a blast

UUUUMM...Probably not. I think I'll just enjoy driving it for a while. Besides, I won't be able to afford to replace anything I break after all I spent on it this winter !!!!

I would not race either of those 2 coupes... they are way too nice to get sideways and bash something.
