I was kinda reminded to post up as a newbie..

I have been a lurker for a couple of years and started looking on the site for a special project that we were asked to build. A 1938 Chevy 1/2 Ton truck.

As you can see from the thread started by the metal surgeon , it has and continues to be an interesting project.

We were lucky to have found Jon The Metal Surgeon and brought him here to Michigan for this one of a kind build.

Most of my life has been around cars of all makes and models. Mostly in older Euro cars and pro rally racing, But was into muscle cars for years. I am the project manager for this build and with the help of professionals Like Jon and tips from the HAMB members it will surely go smoothly. Thanks for allowing us to share this project !

Welcome from the Buckeye State! In 1979 I worked in the U.P. near Germfask and Seney in Schoolcraft Co. and had a great time. Also, ate a lot of pasties and smoked fish. Good stuff, eh!

Welcome! From yet another troll. My moms family was from Houghton. Every summer, as a kid, we'd spend a couple weeks up there. Head to the bridge, then up to the Sault, around the bay to Tahquamenon, down through Newberry, across the stretch, then up to the thumb.
The drive up was always tough, because we could only get pasties from the shop behind the Post Office, in Laurium. Those were the only real pasties, as far as my mom was concerned. Drivin past all those stands on the way up, mouth watering, for that rare treat we'd only get once a year. Most kids hate long car rides, but I looked forward to it every year. (except the year our AC was on the fritz) Stories, from my mom, about waiting hours for the ferry, when there was no bridge (or AC), and buying oranges and roasted peanuts from the venders that would walk around through the traffic. Ahhhhh, memories!

Say Yah to da U.P., eh!

There are actually a few great places to get pasties now... Red Onion and Lawreys west of Marquette. My opinion a pasty isnt really a pasty unless you have rutabaga in it ( Tastes like onion but a tad more potent ) . And to those that put gravy on their pasty should be put in jail.. Thats a canadian thing ( No Offense ) Ketchup is the only additive needed...

The Tahquamenon falls is 20 miles from me.. Was just there last weekend .. Great food at Camp 33 Microbrewery....

Too bad the computer doesnt have smell o vision...

Here is where you can mail order some of the best pasties around:
