When I was in high school I worked for Dick Vest at his Shell station in Dayton(Beavercreek). He took me to George's Speed Shop when I was 16 & introduced me to George.I was at George's shop 2 months ago.He spent almost an hour talking about the old days with me.I'm sure if you contact him he can help you get headed in the right direction with your build.Like I said,he's a great guy.

*** I VOTE TO UNCHOP IT,VINTAGE RACE CARS ARE RARE***

    Wow!! Great Score!!

  4. Just never know what you will find in a residential neighborhood, I'd been coming out of the house if I seen that being pushed down my street ! It looks like along with the chop the front springs were put under the axle ?

Awesome find on another famous Ohio race car! Unchopped Hurst era colors would be my vote. Even if it takes a long term commitment, that car is deserving if ever there was one. Nationally known vintage race cars just don't surface that often anymore.

Congrats & good job on the find!

  6. Damn, what a cool find!

One of my all-time favorite drag cars. It's awesome that it was found and that it in good hands.

Looks like hell. I will be by this afternoon to get rid of it for you. The neighbors are already complaining!!

Really nice find and I hope you build it as you want. Good luck with it. It gladdens the spirit to know they are still lurking around out there.

  8. COOL!

But it needs a "Razin' da Roof" thread!

  9. OK, keep the chop and return it to the Bob Chipper rendition, he was no Nancy. Let me know if you need help when it comes time to pistons, pins, rings, rods. Ric. PS. Also one of my all time favorites.

Very Cool! I am proud to be part of the recovery of this gasser history. Can't wait till it hits the track at Thompson!

Great find... the chop looks good, I could deal with that if everything else gets restored... I can't wait to see it in person

Maybe a front half/back half paint scheme to celebrate both racers. Very cool find and glad to see it being resurrected!

Well, here's the question: Do you want Ohio George's Gasser Passer, or do you want Chipper's Gold Getter?

I know which one is more historically significant.
And I know which will be worth more when you decide to sell it.

  28. Unchop it. Preserve history. Ohio George deserves/earned it.

  29. changing a skirt on an old had, does not make her a virgin.....

I know these guys, they respect the significance of the history and will restore it. Now the question is, will they race it. I look forward to the day when I can look across the starting line and see Rob in the Gasser Passer!

And by the way, if you guys need some room with all your other treasures in the way, I could come out and help you make some room!!!

    Good for you guys!
