a clean 32 4 door! i mean clean and dry! this thing is solid, i believe its original black paint under the red? either way Joe will love the new roof line on his 32 i believe it was Megan that talked to him about letting me chop his car? dont remember, however im glad we finally got together. he brought the car down to me from Daytona for a 4-5 inch chop. he is building a traditional style car with all the right goodies, so i am honored to be a part of this build. here is the car the day it arrived... i masked off 4" after cleaning some of the paint off... then the fun began... sometimes i like to add these "guides" in this car i did 4, at the B and C pillars, it helps in aligning and squaring things; oh and yes i tack welded the doors closed so that i can chop it all at once, too many doors to fuss with on this one... i started with the B and C pillars lining them up and double checking the window heights as i tacked them on; then moved on to the D pillars and rear window, lastly the 2 rear quarter curves... tomorrow ill go inside and begin tacking the gaurnish moldings and anything else i can tack, before i move to the A pillars. see ya! Yaril
Looks great but the best thing you could have done for yourself would have been to cut the skin off the A pillars beyond the chop lines before you cut out the whole structure. Then you would have been able to weld the inner structure and blend the skin in. Just a suggestion.
thanks guys! dirty dug, thats a great idea!!! it might not be too late though... i totally get what your saying.
I was drooling over Joe's body durring the pizza party at the Turkey Run. Can't wait to see to see how you work your magic on the A-pillers Tyler, I assume you are going to lay them back? Brett
Thanks for all the kind words on my fordor. I am sooooo excited that Yaril and I are having a chance to work together on this project. There isn't another person I would have do the chop. I can't sing enough praises about how cool Yaril is and how professional and in love he is with what he does for a living. I'll be putting a full build thread together and I'll put a link to it on this thread. Also jalopykid thanks so much for building a bad ass fordor and motivating me to get moving on mine. GREENMTNBOY talked about the pizza/shop party I hosted during the turkey rod run in Daytona beach. It was thrown together last second but to let everyone out there in HAMB world know, I will be planning another one this year and do a much better job of organizing and promoting it. So if your in Florida for Thanksgiving you will be more than welcome. I'll update and keep everyone posted. Again can't say it enough, Yaril is the man, and thanks brother. Thanks Joe
Oh man, another Yaril build? I'm SO subscribed! Can't wait to see this one come together, but I'm not sure you'll make the GNRS this year.
Looks good for a parts car ,,I love the old 4 doors but too tall for a chop so mine will always have a stock top. HRP
While I myself would NEVER chop a 4 door 32 Ford ( or any other 32 Ford either ) ... I am too tall for one chopped Yours does look nice. Great job
Lookin' good! Can't wait to see it in the flesh! I'm stoked to see Jojo building this car and even more stoked that Yaril is helping him out. It is going to be one sweet ride when it is done! Keep us posted....or I could drive over and see it I guess
Thanks Megan, luv u and Matt so much. Thanks for all u guys have done for me. The real reason I'm actually working on the car now is because I don't want to give Matt an opening to get the steering wheel from me. Haha see ya in a few hours.
That's one sexy chop guys!!! Really going to turn some heads and make people think twice about 4drs. So glad it's turning out great and you're well on your way to a menacing looking hot rod. Happy for ya!!! Also, Love those front MC tires! Always drool over those things and I plan on running a set of fronts on my '33.
thank you everyone for the kind words! this car is a pleasure to work on. see post below... i dare ya to drive over well, put some time in this week. wrapped up some of the rear pillars inside and out and moved on to the front: i didnt want to lean the A pillars, so i decided to split the roof and move it forward: it wasnt that bad making the missing parts, here was one of my favorite, the double dip drip rail: made all the parts bend and turn like factory so nobody will know that this roof is about 1/2" or so longer shhhh: close up of the drip rail and the bead just above it: after minor slicing the pillars lined up perfectly. i focused on door gap and worked the rest around that, even got the A pillar garnish moldings tacked up: the front door tops are also almost finished, they are tacked in place with the same fit and finish as when it arrived. it has a menacing look from the front now: more to come next week, i should be able to wrap it up then. see ya!
