Uhhhhh.......I know the difference between roadsters and 'verts....but the tops go down either way, so more related than a coupe and 'vert.........jeez.....some ****ing people......haha.....
All I know is I can see a whole lot more of the World going by in my Roadster than I can in the Coupe,.......
had both in California, roadsters a plus (with top). Here in Tennessee it rains to much and with no fenders you will get wet. When I was younger it was an adventure to go ******* with my bride, but now we both are over it (give me a/c). LOL
Hey guys. My name is Johnny I'm from so cal and I can't tell you how much I love my roadster. There is nothing better than driving in the early morning or in the evening on a open road in a roadster. I have no kids but the worst day I can have at work can change as soon as I drive my roadster when I get home.
Not everyone is cut out to be a roadster guy. We put up with a lot that some folks wouldn't tolerate, like getting soaked by downpours, freezing our ****s off, rain drops that feel like bullets at 50 mph, bugs hitting you in the head, sunburn, etc. On the flip side, no other driving experience excites all your senses like driving along with no top to block out the world. You get all the smells from trees and restaurants, feel the temperature changes that happen from mile to mile, and are part of your surroundings instead of wrapped in a steel box that separates you from everything around you. People at redlights are also more prone to chat with you because you are so exposed to the world. Owning a roadster is like having a Harley with four wheels. I don't think I will ever own a coupe or even a roadster with a top. Don
Yes, it does take a special kind of guy to own a roadster. I think they are the best...your right, nothing better then driving one on a cool summer night or early in the morning. Coupe are bad ***...Nothing looks better then a sinister coupe...except a *****in roadster Oh, and I own a "***gy" convertible, too!!
Bingo. It's about as close to the feel of riding a motorcycle as you can get. There's nothing like driving a roadster on a warm clear night w/ all the stars out.
I live in New England- if you have a roadster, you cannot use your car for three months of the year. I don't care how ******** you think you are, you are not going to go ******* in 15 degree weather. If I lived in california or down south, I would probably reconsider.
Do you drive your coupe in bad weather? I will not with all the **** they put down on the roads. Closed car or not, when they start spraying down the roads with de-icer or salft, mine do not leave.
No- they stay parked when the sanders come out. I can usualy drive them well into November, however, and take them back out in late march or early april.
What I say about the Track T: Just as miserable as a Harley at half the price. The 50 is my wifes, but she sometimes lets me ride in it if the weather is ****py.
REAL hot rods don't have tops or fenders. Lot's of people have cut the roof off of a coupe to make a roadster, but nobody puts a roof on a roadster to make a coupe.
Another nod towards a coupe...last summer I was cruising along in the Vette with the top off and had forgotten to grab a hat on the way out. Well, being about 75% bald, some wise *** punk kid yells out..."Hey Rogain !!!" F-in *******. Morale of the story...you don't need a hat in a coupe !!!
well...looks like coupes are high tailing it to the finish line on this poll...interesting and funny views you guys have. BTW...is there anything wrong with just cruising with the top up on the roadster? that should do the trick too you know...
I've had 2 Roadsters, 1 Convert, & a chopped coupe on the road. Open air all the way for me but I've got to finish my coupe before I can go back to a Roadster.
I voted for the ROADSTER ... but in the real world ... I have both. In the past few years, I have been driving the 3W coupe more ... but IF I had to sell one of the Deuces, I would KEEP the roadster and sell the 3W. I have owned the roadster over 30 years and I plan on owning it until the day I die.
I was on a road trip with a good mate a few years ago, we drove from Geelong in Victoria to Valla rodrun which is a few miles north of Nambucca Heads on the northern New South Wales coast, he was driving his 32 roadster and I was in my 33 coupe. The first leg of the trip was good with perfect weather, on the first night we stayed at a mates place in Sydney, second night the central coast. When we left the central coast we started to get a bit of rain so we'd stop under a freeway overp*** as my mate had no roof on his roadster, as it really started to settle in we decided to push on. Well about 50 miles before Nambucca Heads we caught in a monsoonal downpour, it absolutely pissed down, cudos to my mate he drove through it. It was so bad his car was a blur in front of me the visability was so bad. When i asked him later, why didn't you stop? His reply was, well bikies have to put up with it, I thought, fair enough. When we arrived at Valla, him and his good lady wife got out of the roadster actually laughing and looking like a pair of drowned rats, my wife and I got out of my coupe bone dry, and I must admit I didn't envy my mate one bit and I felt guilty for driving a coupe. I am now building a roadster, probably kharma is going to come my way. Probably though fair to say there are pro's and cons for both.
sounds like something similar would happen down here in miami. the weather here is bipolar...it could be a nice beautiful day and then suddenly....a torrential downpour for about 10 min. then a beautiful clear clue sky....I understand the whole motorcycle concept behind it, because I myself have been caught in a similar situation with my harley...but for some reason it still dosent match up to the feeling as of being in a roadster. I guess there are pros and cons to each, but in my opinion (as with the rest of us) the best is to have both.... Thanks guys for your votes. seems like this miniature study has lead to the conclusion that coupes are the way to go. I don't blame you. aint nothing like a coupe....but then again there aint nothing like a roadster. oh boy....here we go again.
I've got 3 coupes (none running) but I have this itch for a roadster like it's no one's business. Problem is I probably won't get one unless I can figure out how to add more garage to my property since I'm tapped for space as it is. If I could I'd probably build a '29 with a track nose on a custom tube frame much like Zach Suhr's.
I think I already posted on this thread but just in case I prefer coupes. The Ol' Man always had roadsters. He also had a henderson 4 cylinder and various limey bikes, I prefer Harleys. I guess it is just a rebellion thing.
