Do I have any friends/people I can trust in Arizona?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Traditions Racing, Jan 29, 2012.

  1. Bitter divorce should be finalized in the next few weeks/2 month's. I'm thinking seriously about moving back to AZ., a place I never got to settle down in because the ex missed Florida too much and we came back. This is HAMB worthy because there could be a chance we can do something together as far as a small HAMB friendly shop. No, I'm NOT looking for a job or someone to hire me, but thank you anyway. If anything some cool guy's and gals to help with my transition. Believe me, I'm like the elephant that never forgets who was there for me when the going got tough. Anyone who has followed my post's knows I live to help people, and now maybe I can use some friends and I don't usually ask for anything of anyone. I dont need any $$ or anything material LOL. Send me a friend request, I'll accept and then you can PM me, thanks, TR

Is there any particular place where you are looking to go? Arizona is a good place to be. A lot like California but more affordable to be sure. I'm in Tucson but plan to retire in the White Mountains, perhaps Show Low. Good luck, Bill

  10. Thanks a bunch Ed, I love your state, I just can't do the cold. I actually have a old friend up in Colorodo Springs, got me started in Engine Building and Machining almost 40 years ago, TR

  11. Thanks everyone!!! Man I lived there for a year and dont remeber the " white mountains " you all speak of. I'm getting out the atlas now and check it out, thank you!!!

  12. I'm living in downtown PHX for now, don't have much but an old Buick, and some hand tools right now, but, I can lift heavy things, and there's a few High Lifes in my fridge. You're welcome to 'em. PM sent.

  13. cmon up man, we'll leave a light on for ya.. we could use some more knowledgeable old farts up here, and i say blah for show low, too many tweakers, there's much better places that are much prettier up here that are just a bit further out in the boondocks that are still close by. ok i think i may have just hijacked the thread.. sorry. I just get excited when more gear heads think about coming up this way...

  14. were not much to look at, but we do have the tepee motel on 66 in hollbrook :D

  15. coronet, its cool to highjack the thread, its helping me remember the areas of AZ I like. How cold are you today? I used to have a home in Surprise, but after this mess in my life I need some piece and quiet, get away time and space. A crazy woman will do that to you, TR

  16. its 24* right now, but were supposed to get up to 52, which is abnormal for this time of year, the winters up here usually suck ass not a whole lot of snow usually, but the nights are cold, the days right now are usually in the 40's but spring through fall is in the 60-80's and really nice, except for the beginning of spring which is windy as all hell, like 50mph winds, but if your working in a nice garage which I don't have (this is going to change in the next few weeks though) i don't think it would bother anyone much.

Man, if your looking to live the hot rod lifestyle, your going to have to look hard to find a better town the Phoenix! Like L.A. area, and well, that's it! This is a town where literally everybody is into cars in some way shape or form and seeing daily drivin hot rods are the norm. Plus, whether you know it or not, ya already have a pretty big circle of friends out here! Best of luck!

  18. Here is one of my shop helpers. He was rescued from Mesa in 2005. I have a female rescue also from the Phoenix area. They were both very abused. He has suffered from severe allergies here in Florida from the day we brought him here. I need to bring us all back to Arizona. Thanks everyone for helping with information, suggestions and support, TR

  19. sorry chip, i beg to differ on phx, there's way better places than phx in AZ.. way less crime, ungodly heat, smog, yadda yadda yadda, however it sure is nice to have lots of specialty shops near by, unlike here where ya gotta pretty much engineer the tools to engineer the part ya need... but then again that makes us more resourceful then ya lilly walkin city folk.. lol

  20. Thanks Chip, my half Thai wife finally lost it a few months ago. You know what they say, " Marriage is grand.........divorce a hundred grand ", TR

  21. 52, 24:eek::eek:, I have the heat on when its 72*, TUSCON HAMBerz here I come :D

Do you know why divorce is so expensive? Because it is WORTH it ! :D I know it's a bitch right now, but that will all end and you will find your life settling down to where you are able to really enjoy just being alone and making decisions for yourself.

Yesterday I was standing by my 27 in a Target parking lot , waiting for my Son to buy something inside, and an older man who said he was 77 came up and started talking cars. He lives here in Florida half the year and Minnesota the other 6 months and has two hot rods and a motorcycle up there. I asked if he brought them down here to enjoy in the Winter time and he said "No, my wife won't allow me to do it."

When he left I felt so bad for the old guy, here he is toward the end of his days and because his wife is forbidding him to do something he can't enjoy himself. My ex Father in Law is the same way, his wife won't even allow him to have a computer and he would love one.

Sorry to digress from the subject at hand, just wanted to let you know you will find being single and living in your new home in Az the best thing you ever did for yourself. :D Keep your chin up, bud.

    Don

Absatively! If you can stand hearing your own heart beat!!! I can't live without the hustle and bustle of a city around me, and the noise is what I miss most when out and away. And you got to admit, when it comes down to a choice not of what there is to do as far as shows on a weekend, but HOW MANY you can get to in a weekend, this city wins hands down! And I bitch about all the same things you mentioned at some point, plus the damn silly train they put in at the end of street, but damn this a cool town! As far as lilly walkin' city folk... HHHHHMMMMMNNNNN!!! I find you country bumpkins tend to get in trouble 'round these parts!!! (kidding of course!)

Damn, that sucks! The way my full blooded Hong Kong female (you can't call someone from Hong Kong "Chinese" with differentiating!) is acting lately maybe we send her to "Frorlilla" with yours... Why in hell do we try to keep such crazy creatures in captivity?!

  25. I was going to PM you later metalshapes, thanks for the help. I'm having a hard time with things today, Friday I learned I have to see her miserable face again in court in a few weeks. Sorry, I had to vent.
The only person I used to know in your area owned the BIG DOG Victory M/C dealership, at least he did 6 years ago. I met him at a Victory seminar, I was going to do some R&D work on my own for the new Victory motorcycle engines, but S&S was already in the works with the Victory factory.
I never had the chance to really see Tuscon, just around the university area, and well that's WAY too congested for me. Thanks buddy, we will talk later when my head clears if that's OK, TR

  26. Thanks you guys are the best!, thank you Ryan and all the moderators for having this, good HAMB information and HAMB friendly builds will come from my moving and new life I assure you !!! TR

You know what's cool about Tucson? It feels like Phoenix did about thirty years ago before it got completely out of hand population wise... Its a big enough town that you can get things done, with out being so big that you never know everybody that's involved in the same things you are. Your never going to be sitting worrying about finding a service you need, 'cause worse comes to worse,an hour drive and your up here where EVERYTHING you can imagine is available. Pretty cool choice...

So what's wrong with AJO? It's nice and quiet down there...Kind of lite with HAMB'rs though. But it's a town with some good people in it. You can sure see the stars at night there.
