Alright, here some updates...I started on the notch today Some mock up just to check things out welded the top part in, remember if your doing one of these this part has to be trimmed a little, at least mine did Ready to be welded to the frame
My helper got home from school, so he got busy doing some cleaning on the frame while I welded the notch into place (he knows not to look in my direction while I'm welding) Notch welded in place
More updates tomorrow. Should have the other side welded in and cut the frame out to weld the bottom side in... Later
I was a little nervous when it came to this part, but what the hell go for it Tacked the bottom support in place
I love to builds like this. Great job man! Looks like you are making some progress. I am going to subscribe to this one.
Thanks Chris, should have some updates tomorrow...Going to final weld the bottom plate on the notch and get the rearend set in place to start working on the 4-link
Alright, didn't get anything done yesterday, so today I finished welding the notch in another shot from behind
Looking great so far. Only issue I see is the hood hanging in the rafters. I would have knocked myself out 3 or 4 times by now.
This picture is from when I started setting the rear end in, it is now centered and ready to start getting the four link ready
Happened once, the front clip is under it now but there where a few cuss words said when it happened Gambino notch
After I finish the four link placement I'll use some square tubing to brace it all up. Still got to pick all that up from the steel yard
Thanks for the complement, I definitely do not want it to lay frame. I want it to rest an inch or so off the ground. I want it to appear like it doesn't have bags even though it does. Hopefully that makes cense?
Your first photo, may heart hit rock bottom then the third photo made me fell a whole lot better WWW. What do you plan for the firewall? You can cut the hole firewall out putting in a smooth one or do what I did on my '52 Chevy. I did mind with the engine in thus the three pieces, you can do yours in one piece. CRUISER
Alright got a few updates. Put the supports in between the notch, used some 2x2 square tubing. Put the bottom bars in place, and started laying out the top bars
The top bars where a little tricky for me, first time I've done this. I used some 2x3 tubing laid across the frame and welded it on all side and from underneath, then obviously mounted the mounting tabs on top.
What's left to do on the rear is weld in the bag mounts and put some supports in between the 2x2 tubing. Also, I'm going to add a few supports to the tubing used for the 4 link mounts (better to be safe than sorry). Also got the front bag mounts tack together and check for clearance. Going to pick up some air fittings and nuts/bolts for all that this week. Another update this weekend hopefully. Later, Eric
