I've noticed those as well... I wonder if one could make them more attractive by machining the split out of the slot, to go for more of a kidney bean shape.

    Drive Em,
What did those wheels come on originally?

It seems like most all of the cast aluminum wheels end up in the scrap bin five minutes after the cars hit the wrecking yards here locally.

I'm going to have to ask the local aluminum recycler if I can go though their wheel bin the next time I am down there.

  7. Drive em,
Are using drive studs and nuts or are you using a stadnard shank lug nut?

Chrysler Cordoba, but they are flipped around backwards. The original outside of the wheels look like the Lincoln wheels the original poster asked about.

Standard shank lug nut. The amazing thing is that the wheels already had the recess for the lug nut washer. The early Ford axle snout is a fake as the rear end in the car is an 8" Ford.

I may look into a pair of those for my fronts. I originally was going to run steelies (which I have) to remember a car from when I was a kid. Then I decided to run a pair of narrow Ansens ( which I also have) because they are lighter. But if I am going to stray from my original plan a pair of those on the front with the smoothie lincolns on the back may just be perfect.

I would like to see the fronts of the Cordoba wheels, just keep a eye out for them. Who knows, I might score some Corinthian leather too...

The fronts of the Cordoba wheels look exactly like the Lincoln wheels, just without any holes and a 5 on 4 1/2" bolt pattern. What is freaking me out is how close the backsides of these look to my genuine Halibrand no holes...

This thread was like a direct foot-beaten path to Ted Halibrand's old shop in Culver City!

Drive-'em blew my mind with the Chrysler wheels on the roadster...I did NOT know about those. Lincolns were the ones I knew about. My bud had smooth Halibrands on his '40 Coupe in '65...my girlfriend called 'em 'Salad Bowls'.

Chip, they've been removing the aluminum wheels at scrap yards around here as fast as the papers go in the drawer...
