My new project 1951 Buick

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by aw1950, Oct 18, 2010.

  1. Well I did not think this would get started toady , This far aways . Drivers door cut and out of the way . All braced up and ready to go . The 52 Window gets the nod . I personally like the looks of the big C pillar . It gives it more of a custom touch in my opinion !! Number 5 No turning back now . No 7 chopped the 3" and reinstalled to get a feel of the look . More pics comin ! Andy...

  12. Sometimes I think that people get tired of the same old shit . I guess each guy gets to the end result different ways thats what makes each thread unique I guess !!

Hivolt you never know what each day will bring on this sight do ya !!!And thanks I hope it turns out well . The back window is still in the air . I know I know I'm flip floppin like a fish outta water on the rear window issue LOL !! What will be will be . I dont even know yet .!! I like the 52 Chev rear look and is the leading contender but I will try the Buick 3 pc. Maybe LOL !

Thanks Fitzee . Got a guy comin over this morning and I am thinking of another 1/2" at the A pillars I am not sure yet though . I need some help with the big old floppy piece of sheetmetal .Take some braces out of the roof and man does it looses strength, go figure  Did you get the front frame rails off of the 52 yet ? / grafted onto flatliner ? . Looking good Andy, man I enjoy this thread!

  17. You getting that new shop built yet Doug . Thanks for the words of encouragement . I screwed up and have to undo the A posts that are tacked on . I have one A pillar roof section (Passenger Side ) that looks good and one that has a noticable low spot . I know what I did and it needs to come apart and the two slices I made at the roof corners need to be symetrical to one another.I failed to do that and one post had to be pulled and the other was just put in place . Thats why it dosent look symetrical from side to side . Better to find this little blunder now . Not to bad of a fix , at least I figured it out and didn,t try to cover it up with a ton of filler. Later , Andy...

Waiting...... not very patiently either..:) Lets see em Andy! Builder was booked until end of this month so less than 3 weeks and counting.

  22. Starting on the B Pillar reconstruction . Had to cut the whole post off to get the proper angle . I made some panel clamps a few weeks ago . They come in some handy . I need to make some more . I only have these 3 for now . Starting the filler piece at the driprail is the last picture . Andy

Looks great Andy! It doesnt take long to burn away the hours doing all the time consuming fit up eh! So have you made a decision on the backlight yet?:D

  28. Taking time !! thats for sure Doug as this stuff deserves nothing but time and undivided attention . i am sure you know what I mean LOL !

Brerhair , the A pillar issue in simple terms , I fucked up and only cut one roof section above the windshield and left the other uncut .When I did that the roof got flatter on that side as it spread to meet the A pillar . Physics man physics LOL . Then I couldnt figure out why one side looked high and stock looking and the other side looked like it was flatter . Fixed it by putting a slice at the same spot on each side . Now it looks symetrical .

24 for 50.00 ??? I can never find that kind of a deal on e-bay when I serched them . All that kept coming up was Eastwoods products 4 for 24.95 not to good a deal as far as I am concerned . Andy...

Still in the air on the window issue but a heavy lean to the 52 chevy as far as I know right now . I will lie the two down when I get the rest of the roof together and one of them will speak to me for sure LOL !!!!
