Thanks guys, yea Mark I was thrilled to say the least! Now I can run a pair on the ranchero too!

Chris they're actually from howell's, I think Steve's wheelwells are like 33's with no crow's feet. they are a die stamped part though so I don't know if Howell's actually made them but both the wheelwells and the quarter tails fit very well. I was a little nervous because they are NOT cheap, but I'm quite pleased with them.

Glad your bits fitted good,I got my inner and outer below deck lid panels which all though good quality they didn't fit right good:mad: and they cost me a total of $708.00 by the time they got here:eek:

    Thanks Mike!

Ouch! Where did you buy them from? Yea, there's always going to be some adjustment necessary, but on the whole these were pretty close, I did have to narrow the bead at the top of the quarter tails a cinch. The divots on the inner fenderwells don't line up perfectly with the subrail holes but that could also be because my frame/subrails aren't 100% stock as well. Regardless, they were well worth the money IMO. I'm not real hung up on the inside looking totally stock, but I'd like the outside to be pretty damn close. This car is always going to be a bit of a mongrel so I think there's no point in getting too anal about shit that 99% of people will never see and probably wouldn't know the diffence if they did. If I was starting with something even remotely close to original that would be a different story. I have the orig outer lower panel and no inner so once the quarters are done, I'm going to bolt everything together, tack the decklid in place, make sure everything's square and the doors open and close nicely, then I'll brace it up, remove the decklid, and fab some inner rear structure, an xbrace behind the seat, etc...

Can anyone tell me if the bottom of the wheelwells are trimmed right to the lower edge of the subrails? Being die stamped, these wheelwells have a lot of overhang in every direction. Thanks!

Andy, from what i can remember my wheelwells are trimmed to the bottom (well within a 1/16 ) the ones that came with the car when i got it were like you say to big, but were trimmed to the shape of the subrail so i trimmed mine at the top if that makes sense....

And i know what you are saying about the originality thing,it ain't ever going to be points perfect but i'm like you i want it to look right when all said and done, there is no excuse, parts sold as , should at least fit together as they are supposed to do.

Looking forward to your updates :).

P.S dont forget that sedan door is 3/4" bigger at the rear than the coupe doors were when you come to chop it;)

Funny this sunday while working on the 40,
I was feeling a little cold cause the sun had gone down a bit,
and I was working in the shade.
And here you are working in the snow.

    Looks fun!

Thanks Bob, just what I needed to know!

Del, that's the way it usually works with me... I spend shitloads of time/money/energy making something happen and then two days later another one drops in my lap. Perfect example, I'm going to get these quarters all buzzed up and installed and some neighbor from down the street will come over and say "sheesh, I wish I woulda know'd you wuz workin on this, I got a perfect rear clip over here I wuz gonna take ta scrap!"

Sko, thanks bud! I'm not sure what route yet, hell at this point I'm just hoping the car is on the road, hahaha!

Thanks zibo, your '40 project is a definite inspiration, what you're doing there makes this look like child's play. I have really lucked out this year, it's been a MILD mild winter... only had to use the snowblower once!! I better shut up...

    Thanks Jon!

Okay, spent a couple hours working this morning, got it mocked up pretty well, everything looks like it will actually fit pretty good with a little work!! I'm PSYCHED!!!

Can't wait to get rid of that va-GI-normous(tm) roof though!
