In the quest of finding a new good, cheap, and tough as nails paint job, I would like to ask what all you guys have done (pictures!!!!! :D)

    lets get started:

    [picture]

    Is it your daily driver?
    Time invested to paint it?
    Cost?
and how much up-keep is required? (durability)

Are we talking Tough as nails, in difficulty to paint like a panel paint job? Tough as nails in terms of durability like industrial paint on your entire car? Or (gulp) Tough as nails like Affliction T Shirts? :D

Colored bed liner from a pro place, applied properly.

When people complain its not smooth, just tell them yes there is a little orange peeled effect in the paint.

I like the durability of Dupont Centari 5000 single stage paint. It's really hard and has resisted some beating on my frame and firewall pretty good.

Scootermcrad painted some of the parts on this Murray with a special aircraft paint I think that's supposed to be really durable and it looks great.

Imron epoxy. It'll never come off, ever , ever. After a month it'll hold your car together.

  10. That's the truth....can't take it off with an angle grinder. I used to paint semi trucks with it. Horrible stuff if you have to repair it....

My Ranchero was Imron for 10 or 12 yrs while I raced it and wrenched on it.

Make sure you have a good fresh air system if you spray Imron, supposed to be wicked bad for you to breathe too much of it.

I powdercoated a car. Inside and outside. Virtually everything. And it came out bitchen. The few panels that I was not able to metal finish got prepped and painted to match.

seems their are some pros and con$ to high durability paint..Stuff gets pricey. I saw a panel with a CIL paint on it years ago and the salesman whacked it with a hammer and the stuff would not crack or chip. .My wife found some paint she liked but it was $800 a gallon,,fine if someone else is spraying and they mess it up it's their problem, Remember you the one that has to deal with it at a later date to sand or remove.

Spray-weld armor plate to the body panels. Avoid the glass 'cause it will melt.

imron is about the toughest paint ive evr used or seen.painted my wifes 67 chevelle with it and had run out of time to color sand. it also had a run. took almost 2 months to get back to it. id been better off using a grinder to colorsand than paper
