My wife and i are going to AZ and NM next week and we would like to find some old junk yards with 50s and 40s cars. We know about the popular ones. We would like to find some out of the way unknown ones. thanks in advance

You can check if Lewis auto is still open in Moriarty,nm. That is on old route 66 and is about an hour east of albuquerque if I remember correctly, it's been a few years.

Two in the Huachuca City area, one on State 90 (Fort Auto Parts) and another on Sanders Road, off Highway 82 east of 90 (Ralphs).

If you really want to plan an itinerary;) for best use of your time and gas, it might be worth letting your fingers do the walking first.:) RoadKillCustoms, Louisville, seems to have about as thorough a list of junkyards nationally as exists anyplace. I believe it has various search features, so you should be able to get CONTACT INFO and do some research on inventories:cool: BEFORE going out on the road. Beside this link (RoadKillCustoms.com), you might also search this HAMB thread: View Junk Yards, Salvage Yards and Auto Recyclers Database .

Good luck! Bring us back some photos, will ya???:D
