I recognize it,but don't know anything about it.Seems like maybe I saw it at a KKOA show or two in the 80s.I always took ton of pics, but doubt I have any of that one.Someone should know the story of it,other than the obvious

Are you just saying that because you don't want anyone to know you used to cruise it on Woodward while you lived in Detroit. Fess up, all of us have a couple of skeletons in the closet.:D

  13. Wow. I laughed. I threw up in my mouth. I cried.
I've never seen that car before. I'm thankful. I would have been traumitized!
Looks like he's on the right track to save it.
Can't wait to see how it turns out.

  14. I think if this gets the proper traditional stance of laying frame it would improve the car tremendously.I didn't like the little rear window and im glad it's out but being layed out would really help this poor mercury.

NOOOOOOO! Don't chop it, clean it up and make a nice Mild custom out of it!! Too many chopped and skirted mercs out there, too many '32 roadsters with SBC and Torque thusts, too many Juiced 64 Impalas...etc. Too many "DONKS", period.

I can't really say that about gasser willys and 55 Chevys though, we need more of those, so disregard all of that if you must.

    Hey,

    The Susan Boyle of Mercs:D:D:D

It's kinda too bad this one's gettin' dragged into 2012! Someday ''Freekshow Kustoms'' will be like black primer & red wheels, the next big thing! Ya know, it's like when ya see a super hottie standing next to a butterface, and suddenly the hottie's index jumps ten points.

And the story with Jeff.........................I've seen this kinda thing before, when I usta paint aircraft for a living, I guy's gotta leak in his spray mask, a small leak, but a leak, still. By the end of the shift he's gone total ''broken arrow'', full on gonzo!:D

The great thing about owning a car like this is that you can make wonderful improvements merely through the application of repeated strokes with a BFH!

  23. Depending on the final look, I think this one will be right up there with Mick's before and after transformation of his car.

I can't believe nobody has claimed the bondo opera windows and chicken-wire reinforced rear window surround. Quite elegant... name your price, I'll take them.

Those taillamps look like 66-67 Fairlanes but have no place on an early Merc but not near as horrendous as the quad-square headlamp setup.
I first thought this was a Hillbilly Jail Transport car until I noticed the unbelieveable window panels that lived over the expanded metal.
The car has a future but not with those lights.
You've got your work cut out for you but the reward of changing such a nasty dream into a custom reality will make it all worthwhile. Enjoy.
