Feder- thats one heck of a build!! Your son has incredible skills!!

Came home today to the new wheels. Now- The Rocket is rolling on Rockets!! All I can say is they are almost as light as a set of Weld Wheels in the rear. Shave down the weight where you can!!

Fronts. I'm glad I had Dave Coker send me the as cast units, until he brings the matching fronts up online soon. It looks tough, and the aluminum finish should mellow a bit when it patinas:

I was wondering the same thing. A 64 front clip with a 65 rear section a chop chopped top, reminds me of the Ronny Sox Shoe Box car from 1990. Talking to Ronny back then I ask him what came from a 1964 Comet? He said the tail light Lens that all. I under stand using 64/65 combo because Jacks was 65 made from a 64. I just hope he puts a tricked out 500 plus ci blowen SOHC with Liberty Trans. Good Luck Guys. ~~~~~~~~AFX DAVE~~~~~~~~

Thanks for the replys. Yes it is a 65 with 64 nose. This car was in REALLY bad shape when We brought it home. The floors - trunk and bottom s of the rear quarters were rusted gone. Thats why We used the front wheelwells in the rear the made new quarter bottoms then fabbed the rear corners and the complete rear with the recessed bumper. Ill post some more pics today.
As for power We do love our FEs. We have a new 68 CJ with Edel heads, solid roller Ross pistons with Hilborn electronic Injection. And a genisiss 427/482 with Edel heads Crower
solid cam with med risor 2x4s with 660 cen squirters. This motor maybe has 2500 mi on it. Also a brand new Jericho 4 speed with long shifter and a complete softlock clutch.
Now the plan was to make a car similar to the Chrisman Comet. So it has to be a blower motor. We already have a 1968 Dodge Dart A/FX car thats a Hilborn injected 440.
It runs consistant 10.0s , high 9s on really good air days. We want the Comet to be faster of coarse, but ALOT faster. So the FEs and trans We have would only propel the car
To around the same performance as the Dart. And to add a blower to either of them
with 20 -30% boost on alcohol would mean to completly start over. And I dont need to tell You how much that would cost for an FE. The only thing We could really use would be the genisis block. Could reuse the heads but even they would need bigger valves and a pro cnc porting. Everything that would be replaced that is almost new would be a shame to shelf or sell for 50% of what Ya paid. So We have good homes for the both of them in other vehicles. So We also had quite a collection of 392 Hemis.
So Yes its Getting a blown injected 392. We got a new 671 Hampton Blower and a new 4 port Hilborn birdcatcher Just like Chrismans Comet that was flowed for us By Gene Adams.Heavily ported 555- 331 heads -mallory super mag 3. Manning Brady blower intake.
So theres 8 nozzles in the hat and 8 nozzles in the manifold. BME rods and pistons-Rockerarm specialties rocker arms. So its an oldschool iron block iron head stock crank motor. This was a cheaper way to go than the FE as We had alot of parts and We still have 2 badass FEs. So a blown injected Hemi with a 4 speed lenco should make it WAAAY faster than the Dart. FEDER
WAR is doing the machine work on the block.

After the comments about the FE Vette I couldn’t resist despite the crap I’ll probably get for posting this. But it’s not a real Vette and it was a really nicely built car, ahead of its time for 1965.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" />

This guy built his own Vette body using his street car as a mold, he shortened it about 12”, built the 2 x 3 frame and put an 427 FE in it. Check out his injection, he said the wait was too long to get Hilborns, so he made his own “toilet” injectors. I only saw the car couple times at Vargo Dragway and once at a car show. I don’t remember how it ran. That was hot rodding.

I also scanned some Comet pictures I had filed away, I will post them also. Merritt

This guy said this is Don Nicholsons 64 car, if you look at the front wheels they are the "Motor Fly" wheels. (I think that was the name of them) The motor is the same car.

Just a quick question for you Comet guys.Where do you run your main brake and fuel lines?
The original place on Falcons is the driver's side of the trans tunnel. But I have been hearing horror stories about the drive shaft and vapor lock.
Did everyone just make their own line sand ran them in different locations?

Thanks,
Muncie

Dale,
So you are getting fronts that match the rears later? I like the look on your car. I can sort of see your bars on the rear end. Are they ready for a test?

They do not yet offer the fronts in the 4.5 inch wide, only 6 inch, but are working on them for producing. Hopefully, I'll get the first set. I'm amazed at the weight of the backs, at 13.5-14.0 pounds, almost half of the Cragars. The fronts weigh in at 14.5 pounds, still under from the 22 pounds of the front Cragars.

The bars are ready , hopefully for a test next Thursday evening, if I can sneak over for a couple hours. Maybe Roy will be ready as well. We ALWAYS have a good time racing together.

Muncie;NHRA requires the brake and fuel lines be moved out of the tunnel. If you have ever seen the damage a driveshaft can cause you will understand why!My Comet has subframe connectors and the fuel and brake lines are run next to them, along with the HOT lead from the trunk mount batteries.I made up my own new lines, easy to do. Dale;depends on getting my new rear gears back in time, the rest of the car is race ready, really NEED to test before the MM!!!Besides I need to whip up on that poor old 64 of yours some more!!!! Headed to Pomona tomorrow to hang out with the Stock and Super Stock crew and watch their qualifying!!Should be about 10,000 throttle stop, computer controlled, racers there so that gives us plenty of time to drool on the S & SS cars, maybe even time for a beer and a hot dog!!! Have FUN!

Say, does anyone know the reason why nobody makes replacement gas tanks for our Comets? Seems the Falcon/Mustang units are a bit smaller, the Fairlanes a bit larger!! I still want to cut the top off of one, mount it and put the fuel cell in. That way, from under the car, for the most part, it appears stock... Ideas??

21. The wheels are made by Howards. This would be after Matt Fenton and Ivan Jordan sold the car. They are the ones who bought it from Dyno. The car would later be called "Big Ben" and stay in Maryland before going to OK.

This shot looks like it's maybe at 75-80 Drag-a-way....

If I had read the title I would have known, so much for my powers of observation. I don't remember the Dave Lyall car having a straight axle. Dave how about chiming in here.

Ken, you had me thinking on that one. The Paleface pix I think was taken in summer 1966, This other pix is either '66 or '67 in the early spring or fall based on the trees, depending on the year of the Pontiac in the other lane. (Disclaimer - this Shake Rattle & Roll picture came from the internet, I don't remember where and is not my picture)

Shake Rattle & Roll was a really clean beautifull car. I may be mistaken about this but I thought I remember the car later on with the name changed to Shake Rattle & Run.

Falconred, The Falcon is Dave Lyell, at that time I knew the name as a Ford racer but didn't know much about the car, it had 180 degree headers on it and sure sounded different. I have a couple other pictures of Dave Lyell, not great quality, these were take with a Poleroid.

When I first got my Comet a few years ago my son-in-law, a nice kid but wouldn't know an FE from a straight 6 said, "oh the guy next store has a Comet like that with a 427 in it". I didn't really believe it 'til I saw it. I wasn't prepared to take pictures of it when I saw it but the kid just sent me these. It has a medium riser 2x4 intake, Hooker headers, the shifter looks like an old Chev muncie shifter. The installation looks like a Crites kit.
The guy takes it out of the barn about twice each year warms it up, drives it around the block and puts it back in the barn. Neat car! Doesn't want to sell it.
