Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by Jimmy B, Feb 9, 2012.

  1. I thought I would scan some early Australian Hot Rodding mag covers to show what was being built and featured over here

ah, the good old days of crazy, zany, sano, channeled cars, the OZ scene was unique eh.

  8. Yes it was, to me Lyn Arrowsmith's 5w & Pirotta Crimson Pirate define what rodding was. It is a shame it went the way it did, and the amount of old hot rods repurposed is sad.

  16. Great pictures Jimmy! Thanks for posting them. I do have a couple of questions:
First in the December 1966 issue of Australian Hot Rod they advertise coverage of Ne England Car Shows. Is there any way you might be able to scan those? I'm originally from there and would be interested to see who was featured.
Secondly;the September 1971 issue:What make of wagon is that doing the ungodly wheelstand?
Lastly here are pics of the three Australian magazines I have.

  17. Very, very cool thread! I think the mag with the Strip Tripper wheelstander was the first magazine I ever had. I will check and see if I have any to add.

Not a hot rod mag but check out the speed equipment on the back page ad'. Pretty good for 1956 Australia. Great magazine too!
