Checked my Standard Catalog of American Cars by Kimes-those are definitely 1934 Auburns and Auburns were being built in Connersville by that point. They sure do resemble the contemporary Hudsons though. The giveaway is the hood side trim.

1930-1939

The Great Depression puts many Canadians out of work and, by 1933, unemployment is at 30%.Initially, the regions hit hardest by the Depression were those focused on industrial production, such as Southern Ontario. In the mid-1930s, a severe drought struck the Prairie provinces and decimated agricultural production. Many farmers relied on government support to survive, while others abandoned their farms entirely and moved to the cities. Quebec, because of its diverse industrial economy, experienced heavy unemployment but was less affected than the west. A sudden economic collapse was also less detrimental to the Maritime provinces, since the region had already been in economic decline since the 1920s.

The average cost of a new car is $600.The average annual salary for 1930 was $1,000.00, meaning that a new car would have cost more than half of a person's annual income. A new tire, priced at $3.69, would have also cost more than a person's average daily income which was $2.50 a day.

1950

Park Royal Shopping Centre, in Vancouver, British Columbia, is Canada's first park-and-shop mall.British Properties, owned by Vancouver's wealthy Guiness family, designed and built an exclusive housing development in West Vancouver. British Properties believed that the addition of a shopping centre would serve existing residents as well as attract new ones, and so they built the Park Royal Shopping Centre. Shopping malls, designed with cars in mind, quickly became a staple of urban living in Canada. In 1956 there were 64 shopping centres in Canada. By 1960 that number had grown to 231.

1961

The Mercury Meteor Montcalm was a hit in Canada.The Mercury Meteor brand was unique to the Canadian market. It was smaller and more economical than most American cars, making it popular with Canadians. Mercury increased the Meteor's appeal in Canada by giving distinctively Canadian names to each model, like 'Niagara,' 'Rideau,' and, in this case, 'Montcalm.'

1965

Fashion designers shock the world with the introduction of the mini-skirt.The mini-skirt, which would become a symbol of the British Invasion and the Swinging Sixties, made its debut in the fashionable Chelsea district of London, out of Mary Quant's clothing boutique. It took the world by storm, with many other designers creating their own versions of the mini-skirt, and pairing it up with tights, leggings, and boots.

1965

Ralph Nader publishes Unsafe at Any Speed: The Designed-In Dangers of the American Automobile.Nader criticized automobile companies for designing cars that were unsafe, leading to numerous cases of injury and death. The publicity generated by the book contributed to the creation of the 1966 National Traffic and Motor Vehicle Safety Act in the US. It led to similar legislation in other countries, including the 1971 Canadian Motor Vehicle Safety Act.

1972

Telesat Canada, in cooperation with the US space program, launches the Anik A satellite. Canada becomes the first country in the world to put a satellite into orbit for non-military purposes.The Anik satellite enabled networks like the CBC to greatly extend the reach of their broadcast signal to include Canada's far north. The Anik A had 12 transponders giving a capacity of 7,000 telephone circuits or 12 colour television channels. "Anik" means "Little Brother" in Inuktituk.

Canada is the world's second-largest producer of cars, after the United States.By the end of the 1920s, the mass production of cars meant they were more affordable for more families. Canadians registered an impressive 1.9 million cars by the end of the decade.
