I do miss the 350 horse '66 Nova with white Lakewood bars.
I don't miss the double knit leisure suits or platform shoes.

I would really like to see Mini Skirts make a come back though.

Yup, good times. Besides all the muscle cars, there we're a bunch of hot tri-5 chevys in my area. And a fair amount of early iron. I remember a blue 32 ford pickup, chopped, channeled, with a chromed out hemi cruizin the streets. I was bs'n about it a few weeks ago over lunch, and it turned out to be a guy that I know at work. Small world. Yes, it was a great time to be into cars, no matter what you liked.

I am still humbly convinced that Ansen slots look great on everything! Well, not really. But I did giggle to myself while I was bolting my current set to my O/T '71 Maverick V8 car that I probably would have gotten laid a bit more driving this car in high school than my '35 back then...

Funny, my daughter is crazy for the 70's and has 'claimed' one of my Skylarks

Now I remember why I drifted away from the American car scene starting in about the late 60s for a number of years... No insult intended guys, it's just a generational thing.

Man I remember those! They were #3 on the list, after fat rear tires and air shocks. I had a pair on my '70 SS Chevelle, boy did they sound good at wide open throttle! Sounded even better after I rebuilt the 402 and stuck that Crane cam in it. Good memories there, if not somewhat foggy.:D

Oh yeah, I remember those too! I took my wife (we were just friends then) to my high school football banquet in 1971, she was wearing a hot pants outfit that looked great on her. Well, at least to me and the other guys anyway, the other girls hated it! We still laugh about that.

While it's neat that you old geezers are taking a well deserved trip down memory lane, lets ALL make a pact that this era in automotive history is never ever revived.

Maybe you have a point there. A few old geezers in hot pants would be pretty scary!

Wish my high school parking lot looked that way in 1975, but the reality was more prosaic:

(Was going to crop down to just the one picture but the shot of Ralph Nader at our school just seemed to go with it. And no, I don't remember why Pete Rosado was in drag at the Homecoming parade.)

Awesomeness. That page reminded me of my first memories of all things automotive beginning in 1976 (I was 2yrs. old). My brother had a limegold 67 Mustang fastback on slots, raised with 50's out back, then a black with red striped 72 Camaro raised with Cragars and a two-lane style scoop.

I love the trend around that time as it takes me back to when and where I first became interested in cars, etc.

I loved it so much that in 1990 when all my classmates were driving Irocs or fox body Mustangs I built this. :D Not only did I want to be different for 1990 I also chose to raise the front instead of the rear. My homage to gassers I suppose.

1972 I was 25 ,decided to quit a good paying job ,go to college full time using the GI Bill.Sold my 69 396 Chevelle and bought a beat up 66 Corvair for 150 bucks. The Chevelle was not jacked up in the rear...........I really don't remember too many jacked up cars running around other than photos in the books. But to be truthful I was into hot rod Triumph cycles and chasing women, cars were just for transportation.

X2. Contrary to the other posts, there were lots of folks with NO sense of style or mechanical ability doing cars. I had friends with vans that had shag rug interiors and beds, mostly just to get high and laid. Others had extended forks on their Hondas thinking they were Dennis Hopper. By this time I was far more into race cars than rods or customs. And my performance heroes ranged guys like AJ Foyt to Don Garlits to Jim Hall and Jackie Stewart. Yet, wacky cars continued. Think of all the bizzaro-themed show rods with junk like phone booths on them. And the awful paint jobs that looked like someone had just taken magic markers and just countinuosly outlined the contours of the body panels with color after color, no rhyme or reason.

    And then came disco. Gary

I was 10 in 1975. Remember waiting for the schoolbus reading the newest Roach T-shirt catalogue or Cartoons.
