I want to start a thread about the parts that have been there and done that in style, The parts that are still around today to show their age. So lets post pictures of what Old chrome parts you have either on your hot rod or custom or just laying around in the shop. Tell a little story about where they came from or what car they were off of. There was so much chrome back then and alot of it has went away so lets see what is still out there! Here is a set of drums and backing plates I picked up. The man I got them from said they came off a roadster that was built in the 60s. I have plans to put them on my 40 mercury that was to a old rod back in the day.
These old chrome Ansen swing pedals are going into my car.......and even though I'm having some parts chromed...these will stay as-is....
HAHAHHAA God damn it! My offical title is 'chromosexual'. I just love that ooooooold chrome. I will have to snap some pics of the stuff i have gathered over the years......most of it for one build.....next!
Mmmmmm. Old chrome. Anyone have a chrome '34 front spring for sale??? Sent from my Droid using TJJ sucka!
Here are a couple of things I have! Chrome spindles and backing plates (2nd set of backing plates, these will be going on the rear of my coupe) Rear end! Bones, these came with a crome axle, no pic of that. Carbs One lonely clutch pedal F1 mounts. Finally my mill! I have other stuff but thats all I have pics of..........i heart old chrome!
I only got that recently! I was only crapping on with another guy about 'one day finding a chrome rear end' to go with the front end I have........and BAM this pokes its head up. Funny thing is, apart from the water pumps, everything else I have found down here in Australia. You should have seen me when I found the carbs at a swap
Here is some of mine Caps in my 41. They are not perfect...but very nice Backing plates and 33-34 wishbone. I bought the front plates on the Hamb, the rears I begged a guy to sell them off a whole plated rearend at the Portland swap meet (I won ) Wishbone also came from here. All destine for my 34 Ford Original chrome grill. Guy I got it from said his Brother had it in his garage since the 50's. His Brother got it from a garage...so it's been hanging up for a while! 33-34 roadster dash. Came with the car. Other misc. parts
Awwe one of my favorite subjects!! So stuff I scored for my roadsters future.. 34 Pedals Stuff on Live Wire Bosch Oil Filter Model A wishbones and rod ends Steering colum (dirty) Backing plates Axle Generator Early Ford Reverse wheels Nurf bar Buick taillights Chrome windshield frame..
About half of the chrome on my roadster is old swap meet finds. Rear spring, rear backing plates were black when I bought them. Windshield frame was still wrapped in old newspaper from the chromer when I found it, All 4 97s and scoops are old chrome. Front backing plates and generator are old. 4 baby moons are original from the '50s or '60s. Oh yeah the water pump is old chrome found on ebay.
It was painted when I got the car...saw some scratches were the paint flaked and stripped it. I need that column for my 41 ragtop!!!!
My 16-inch Cadillac sombreros that are destined for my shoebox some day, plus a set of NOS Cal Custom spinners that fit right over the medallions if I decide to go that route.
I also have a set of '49 Plymouth bumpers for my shoebox, including the elusive '49 Plymouth station wagon rear bumper (mocked up here, and flipped upside down). Wear your beer goggles, guys--the car ain't runnin', and it needs a ton of work, so I apologize in advance. Bumper's kinda cool, though. The goal, of course, is to actually attach it to the car someday.
Shit man, your too late. Most anything not bolted to a car got sold when I bought that 34 roadster...those were a part of the fire sale
