Old Chrome...

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by LVHotRodder, Feb 13, 2012.

  1. I want to start a thread about the parts that have been there and done that in style, The parts that are still around today to show their age. So lets post pictures of what Old chrome parts you have either on your hot rod or custom or just laying around in the shop. Tell a little story about where they came from or what car they were off of. There was so much chrome back then and alot of it has went away so lets see what is still out there!

Here is a set of drums and backing plates I picked up. The man I got them from said they came off a roadster that was built in the 60s. I have plans to put them on my 40 mercury that was to a old rod back in the day.

About half of the chrome on my roadster is old swap meet finds.

Rear spring, rear backing plates were black when I bought them. Windshield frame was still wrapped in old newspaper from the chromer when I found it, All 4 97s and scoops are old chrome. Front backing plates and generator are old. 4 baby moons are original from the '50s or '60s. Oh yeah the water pump is old chrome found on ebay.

My 16-inch Cadillac sombreros that are destined for my shoebox some day, plus a set of NOS Cal Custom spinners that fit right over the medallions if I decide to go that route.

I also have a set of '49 Plymouth bumpers for my shoebox, including the elusive '49 Plymouth station wagon rear bumper (mocked up here, and flipped upside down).

Wear your beer goggles, guys--the car ain't runnin', and it needs a ton of work, so I apologize in advance.

Bumper's kinda cool, though. The goal, of course, is to actually attach it to the car someday.
