really enjoying this build, great work. but i gotta say that avatar kinda freaks me out!

 

Re that painted engine pic. I don't wanna be a smart-a**, but are you sure you want to run that shiny timing cover? They always seem to leak, I put a thread up on here a couple of years back as I had one and everyone advised me to stick to the steel factory part.

Just a suggestion, absolutely everything else you've done is 110% if not more.

It was on the motor when I bought it, and it didn't look like it leaked....

Looking good. My decklid fits about as well right now as yours did, so I gotta get working on that.

Wondering: what sort of trunk latch mechanism did you use?

91 Cadillac Fleetwood, electric release, kinda bulky, but it works really well.

I'll grab some pics if I can think about it.

Motor and tranny are in.

It always feels good to get to this part.

 

Here is a '49 my buddy is building for a customer - it has a 4/6 slant chop I think that's what it is

The customer what's it all ford so there is a mustang II goin in the front
302/c4
'69 mustang rear end

Dhould be pretty cool when it's finished

The engine in car and it looks verry good

 

I was determined to use the stock ford column and shifter, but this took some doing.

I spent a LOT of time modifying the shifter assembly. In order for the steering shaft to clear the upper a-arm, the steering shaft would need to be much shorter.





This should work, but it only clears the a-arm by about 1/4 inch, and almost touches during full suspension travel, so I may need to shave the a-arm where they come close to contacting.





And more time spent building a bracket for attaching the column to the floor....

 

I wanted to see how the car would sit, now that I had the motor and tranny in, and installed the dropped spindles/springs.

So I rolled it outside to take a look.

 

I'm really pleased with the stance.

It's not as low as some shoeboxes, but it should come down another inch or so when the front sheetmetal and bumpers are installed.

Currently, I have 3 inches of travel at the rear, stock bumpers on the stock frame.

I might go lower, I dunno.

Next up, brake lines, gas lines, shifter linkage, etc.........

This is a great build. Following this one for sure.

I have one question though. I think I missed it if mentioned earlier... Where did the skirts come from? I have a 51 and I would like a pair like that. I don't like the commonly available ribbed ones. They don't cover as much, plus the ribs are ugly. Your's looks perfect.

 

I posted a thread about questions regarding the different skirts for shoebox ford, one thing led to another, and a fellow hamber offerered me these skirts at a fair price.

I must be blind. I can't find it.So do they fit with in the wheel wells or over the edges light the other. YOur really look sick. Not an after thought light the other one. You score big time on those. I'd ______ for a part like those.
