The steering was damaged and failed during a test drive, both the driver and nav reputedly walked away.

there are more pictures of this car somewhere on the HAMB in a "haunted cars " or Halloween thread and the face shows up even better there I'd give a link but for some ridiculous reason my searches never seem to work!

Both sides of the party have gone downhill! Hell, I'd wear a suit all the time I fly if they gave me that much legroom!

WWII did not begin in the U.S. until Dec 8, 1941. Industry was probably not fully converted to a war footing until March or so,1942. California would have certainly supplied 1941 plates until at least mid December, I would think.

According to this film, 16 months before Pearl Harbor, this Frigdaire Plant was converted to wartime production. 16,000 employees. By the time of this film (mid 1944), 250,000 50 cal machine guns were produced and also hydraulic valves for flight control and propellers were manufactured here.

That looks to be one of those inside-the-barrel stunt dealies where you ramp up the side to drive horizontal supported by centrifugal force. I've only ever seen that done with motorcycles.

Bottom pic is a birdcage Maserati. Incredible to see with the body off.

Those were called "The Wall Of Death" or some variation there of - When you were up top watching the cycles, go-carts or midget cars charging around you could feel the whole structurer lean as the vehicles went by - For a young kid they were a Had To See at any Fair they showed up at.
