Shockley and Sons were So-Cal A/FA terrors. Could occasionally make it in a supercharged event. They and Mike Robertson were 1 and 2 on the circuit. So popular was the cl*** at the time that Irwindale hosted a match race between these two in addition to the regular open event. This car was later in very early pro-comp era with blown alky 354.

This "roadster" and others like it were considered legal for the weekly open AA/Gas superchraged events that were popular from 67-71. Despite 25% engine set back, center drive and little adherance to weight per cu inch rules, many a legal coupe still gave them run.

Campos Brothers "Lo-Blow," so named because they originally ran a Potvin blown SBC, later went to this Chrysler...block gave way, and driver Tom Ferraro was burned over 70% of his body in the resulting fire....he survived and made the New England Journal of Medicine as one of the few people to live through such burns, not a distinction anyone would want to have....

And what made his healing so incredible was that the wounds healed themselves without graphs!

Not a 100% sure, but is that water running out of the zoomie on the drivers side as he is pouring it into the radiator?? That could be an issue....

I just LOVE this picture, but not for the reasons you might think. Today, everyone thinks they need a $20,000 trailer (with an awning!), a $50,000 truck and all the extras just to get started racing. These guys had their priorities in order: a bad*** blown fuel roadster, $35 worth of ****ty old boat trailer they probably found in the alley and someone's wife's station wagon and we're set!
