I just LOVE this picture, but not for the reasons you might think. Today, everyone thinks they need a $20,000 trailer (with an awning!), a $50,000 truck and all the extras just to get started racing. These guys had their priorities in order: a badass blown fuel roadster, $35 worth of shitty old boat trailer they probably found in the alley and someone's wife's station wagon and we're set!

I've literally spent a month of Sundays reading all 1500++ pages of this incredible thread. Thank you all very much for an amazing collection of images, stories and history.

From Keystone/Bison Dragways (near Winnipeg MB). Denny Darragh in what appears to read "Somethin' Else". Denny bought the car from Tom Hoover, it's "the fishbowl" sans chute body/tailpiece (and blower).

Apparently it's being recreated. More info...

I never removed any copyrights (I dont have a clue how to use Photoshop) or "chastised" anyone for not doing so, all I said was that the pictures look better without them.

I have no idea how to even respond to this.

This arguing back and forth is retarded................back to your regularly scheduled programing:

Tom Ferraro, that name along with Tom Trischs' stirred the memory.
    Amazing he survived that deal.

I'm with you there,Zookeeper.Back when making it to the track with baling wire and crossed fingers because all the $ is in the race car.
I hauled my M/P for years with a rental tow bar and towing hubs.

Claymore and everyone else.Back in the game now but it felt good searching out stuff for here. This has to be the definitive photo collection of the best time period of drag racing and am glad to be able to contribute.

Way to get back to the regularly scheduled programing,Mutt.
I have no problems with anything you or others post.

I do have to say that a few times in the past I have received PMs asking I delete a pic.No argument, understand both sides.

All I am interested in is making this the benchmark place for our history.

After seeing those pictures above from Hardinsburg Ky, I was doing some research and found that US 60 there had been acquired and was reopening.
Last summer, I was in Lawerenceburg Tn, and found US 54 was running and the particular night I stopped, Jimmy Aaron was there with his nitro funny car.
Who would have thought this in such stressful economic times.

I was 14 and 15 when I put the T together, and my cousin drove it at Dudley Oakley's Super Drag Strip in Fairview Tn. The body came from Hoenwald Tn. and had the name 'Buck Dancer' painted on it. I got an old Weiand Drag Star manifold for a small block that had six 92's also.

I started collecting used up big block Ford parts from guys I knew running Super Stock, and we pulled the metal T body and that car went Kellison. You can see our ramp truck in the background. We were pro :)
We ran it until the windshield vibrated out and the roof broke loose blew off. May not be championship sh_t, but this was when we had fun. Tom S. in Tn.

The Burgin, Buchanan and Raines cars were all side steer and 10% setback so although they may have been a little light they were far from altereds.

If you look close you can see the fitting in the #1 header (right behind the tire) where the water overflow vents into the pipe.

oh c'mon. Ray Goodman and Preston Davis was probably the driver back at this point in time. This could have been the early days of Lakeland at the Canada Rd exit in Memphis, but can't tell for sure. Tom S.

Wonder why this car was put in altered?
All the body is there and it doesn't look like motor or rear axle have been moved very far. Tom S.
