I do plan on being at the Roundup, but not with the car. Won't be running/driving yet...

Are you able to keep the tailshaft on your tranny?
Where's the shifter in relation to your seat?

Haha! Yes, I am 100% ok with that :D
I don't want to burn myself out! -- did that last year

The back edge of the shift tower is about even with the front edge of the seat. So yes, it will work just fine. The shift handle will probably be curved -- with the center of it curved forward and the handle coming back towards the driver.

I can see why some cars switch to the S-10 tailshaft, but I have no reason or need to.

    Haha.. wait a minute!
No, GARY is the one that's been burning cars up! :D

  10. Wow, nice job! I was thinking of doing something simular for my gas tank. Seeing you do it inspires me to mount it the same way in my '29 roadster.

Welded in the rear axle clearance 'bump', made the panels that go below the fuel tank and battery, and started figuring out the fuel tank and battery hold-down straps. You can see the two vertical straps that I welded in for the tank - two "L" -shaped straps will bolt to them and go over the tank and bolt down to a mount I build on the floor.

Also in the process of figuring out what to use for the floor in the passenger area of the car. Right now I'm planning on framing out the two areas between the transmission and frame rails with 3/4" angle. I'm leaning towards using some nice pre-finished 3/4" thick hardwood flooring --- the stuff you can buy at Lowes, etc.

A couple samples I picked up and the leather that is being used on the seat, which is actually getting covered right now.

I bought a 5-gallon bucket of the Evapo-Rust product to remove rust from some misc. pieces...

Worked out pretty good! It does remove rust, but not all the paint. I'll probably use a wire wheel to finish cleaning these backing plates up and they will be ready for primer/paint or possibly powder coating.

  27. Nick,

Looking excellent. With luck I'll be able to drive my TR up to "meet" your roadster this summer...we'll see.

I decided to drill holes in the fuel tank and battery hold-down straps. They are done now - this is just a progress photo...

Went over to Clint's place earlier this week to help with the seat. He added a piece of foam for lower leg support and is shaping it in this photo.

I decided to just go with a steel floor, instead of wood. Next up is sheet metal on the floor, making a removeable transmission cover, and an access panel for the brake and clutch master cylinders.
