Event Coverage Gene Winfield at Sacramento Autorama 2012

Here's a little something I did with Gene at the Autorama 2012. I didn't spend a whole lot of time on this, but I thought I'd share it with the HAMB'ers. Enjoy!

Nice video, and nothing against Winfield, but he didn't build that yellow '53 Mercury- it was built down here by a friend of mine and recently repainted by Winfield. I don't know why he is saying he built it...

Gene Winfield has lived the traditional life from the beginning. I really get a kick out of the work ethic of that man. Great video.

I first saw Gene at Oakland Roadster Show when it first went across the bay ... about 1998 .... like Paul McCarthy, that guy just doesnt age!

It was built by my friend Chet Miller in Temecula, Ca. Sorry, but I HATE when people take credit for things they didn't do...Winfield or not.

 

Met Gene at the Route 66 Rendezous in San Berdoo CA. way back in the early '90s... Had quite a talk with him at that time, because nobody seemed to know who he was.
Stopped at his booth at the Sac. Autorama, stood at attention and saluted him. Said we had talked at length before, and I didn't want to take a lot his time (as he was engaged in conversation) but I felt he remembered, and knew exactly who I am, and the time we had talked before.

Gene - Is a cool dude, A few years back I was lucky enough to be at a buddys shop when Gene and a couple of other legends were in town for our local car show. Gene was going through an OLD magizine collection, talking about the cars that were featured telling storys about the owners and what went on behind the scenes.

It was priceless

Gene is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.I see him every year @ The Rebel Run in Lima Ohio,he ALWAYS has time to say hello & talk.Thanks for sharing.

 

Gene is a great guy. He spent quite a bit of time talking to me and my boys a couple times today. He took pics with us, signed autographs and was as nice as can be to everyone who came by.

He invited us down to his show in October and even asked my 7 year old about the '48 Ford he is building to drive when he's 16...awesome guy, especially thinking how much he means to the hobby.

 

Holy cow! Windy is a walkin talkin time machine. How many guys can stand there a tell ya who what and where, about the whole hot rod and custom story from the 40,s on up! Listen to him he really tells it like it was, and also whats next. really a sharp guy and a real treasure for us.

I talked to Gene on Saturday for a bit. He's very cool and for his age, holy crap! Makes me want to beat my father for not taking care of himself. Gene just keeps on going. Love the video! I'm editing my brief interview with him. I'll post when I finish.
