Iffn the tribe said dont killem, I'd have asked if they have a dude who removes em while I scream like a girl. We had one in the back yard and the unfortunate thing was the Czuch rattling snake relocation program is outta funds. Foil, garlic, briquets.

You may be correct, just passing along what he told me. I'll try to get some pics of it next time I see him.

Actually, I do have a '60 GMC 3/4 ton in my yard, or what is left of it. If you have a list, pm or contact me and I can check. Mainly have left the cab, hood, some int. The bed, frame and most of the running gear is gone.

Here is another pic of the 60-66 chev or GMC truck we explored in Dec.
It still has its clutch/brake pedals and the return spring is still there too. you can work the pedals. Here is a pic

It is a Buick but, cannot tell much more. I am going to guess it is 1939-1948 style but, not sure.

More info on our online club site. Eveyone is welcome, just please contact us ahead of time.

For this trip, our first stop after breakfast will be at the Claypool hwy tunnel again too for the benefit of those who have not seen it yet.
Several years back, I found this tunnel on my own, without doing any research. It was really something to just find this while exploring. Not sure how many know about it. Obviously, many do but, still not common knowledge.
    then...

    and now...

We have one planned for the Tucson area too in a few weeks. Want to check out the Benson pit, Pima air museum and the airplane boneyard.

Several other 'auto archeological' hikes planned for the rest of the year too.

That is a great question. As for me, am torn by this. There is the side of me that wants to do just that. It is sad to see neat stuff just sitting and not being used. I can't say it is rusting away, at least not the stuff above ground. I am sure the stuff in the ground is on borrowed time if not too far gone already.
On the other hand, if people did that before me found them, then I would not have found them and this thread would not be here. Another thing is they are not mine and I have been taught not to take what is not yours. Just because something is sitting does not mean you can have it. some are on private land, others on indian resv. others not sure.
the past pics of the car near Linden- 40, 47 chev, 71 camaro and more I have yet to share, probably ARE available. They belong to a church I have helped out the last few summers for Childrens Bible camp. The Pastor told me I could have what I wanted. The thought had occoured to me that if there is something someone wants, and is willing to pair a fair price, I may retrieve them and give the money to the church for their ministries.

    Hope this answers your question.

I am just happy to find and share this stuff. Being a major gearhead, I do have interest in transportation, hiways, etc from a historical perspective.

Sure, I am a Pontiac man but, have a real appreciation for all other makes as well.

Interesting, '52 chev huh? I remember this car having port holes in the fender, that is why I thought it was a Buick. If we go back to this area, will look it over closer and take more pics. Does your chev have a trunk floor like this too? spare tire well, etc.?

Port holes became a fad and many were added to other makes.

A fellow hamber, phat rat, emailed this to me to post here. This is what he wrote-
"Steve, I took this today but don't have the capability on my lap top to reduce the size. If you want to post it on the thread fine. I think it's actually within the Sedona city limits. It sits less than a 100 ft off one of the hiking trails here."
It looks like another late 40's car to me.

Anyone know of this car? and/or know what it is?

I see now how it does look like a 40-41 because of the way the lights are in the fenders and how the fenders do not go into the doors like the post war versions. I'm learning.
Have a friend with a 40 or 41 Pontiac that looks like this. very similar

With that said, for ID purposes, what year and make of car is this? This car has the headlamps mounted the same way the 'sedona' car is. correct?

Here's some photos of the wrecks I've found in Morenci. Most of them are down a steep hill - looks like they may have been roundy round cars at some time and just pushed over the side of the hill. Some of it is near the top, I've pulled a couple cowls and a seat up.

Wow! what a great find and contribution to this thread! I've been down the Coronado Trail about 5-6 times but, have yet to really explore for vintage tin. That hiway was put in in the mid 20s and there has to be a lot of potential in that part of the state.
thanks for sharing. When I am in the area sometime, I would like to contact you for directions so I can visit the area.

no problem, shoot me a pm and I'd be glad to show you around. There's a lot of great stuff to see out here. Lots of people miss this part of the state.

  24. Steering wheel is 49-50 Deluxe wheel, only difference in the two is '49 has a full horn ring, '50 is just the bottom half. If that wheel is straight and not cracked bad around the rim it's probably worth $100 or so. A lot of the other details support 49-52 Chevy, too - split hood, the shape of the body mounts, and so on. Actually as I look closer, the bottom of the dash is visible and it's 49-50 also.

Looks to me like a guy with a battery powered sawzall could make a fair amount of money just cutting patch panels out of these wrecks and selling them on eBay to guys in the salt belt for half the price of repro stuff.
