Man how did I miss your post. Yes I have friends. LOL no acounting for taste! I don't think he knows for sure what the motor is small block with c-4 and 4.11 gear that will be a t-5 trans soon. He is building a 62 strait axle tilt front 460 stroker c6 to race with the Southerngassers now. We striped it and redid floors with sub frames connected with square tubing through the floor and he has it welded out. He bought a new Mosher big bearing 9"axle housing with axles for $200 it is 28 spline but he couldn't pass it up it's the right length and was never in a car. The rear should be the next install.

I just found an old collection of my Falcon pics from the 2008 Falcon Nationals in Springfield, MO. Some beautiful cars and a fun weekend. I'll post a few of my favorites. This little Ranchero's was clean and sittin sharp.

Are those before-and-after shots of the same '61? I like it both ways, although the four-lug brakes on a car with the power hinted at by the five-lug rear wheels and hood scoop would scare me a bit!

Yeah they are to different cars. The black one is a stock 144 3 speed, that I cruise to car shows. The gray, rough looking one is a 302/c4 setup with an 8" rear with gears. Disc brakes up front is next, so it wont look uneven lol. Both are 61 sedans

There's this guy at school that has a 64' post. It's silver, probably has a 289, and it has a Hurst shift. American Racing Wheels, and just a gorgeous stance! It's awesome! I'll see if I can snag a picture one day!

Small tweak to the '61 today:

I painted up a set of small-cap 14s (two thanks to MrModelT) and swapped them for the Maverick wheels. Now the Maverick wheels will become rollers for the '62.

64 1/2 14" 4-lug early Mustang and the Optional Falcon 14" 4-lug wheels. They are odd-ball and hard to find, but they did offer 14" 4-lug wheels (small cap) as an option 1964 and 65.

    13" wheels were standard.

My '65 sedan had the small cap 14" 4-lug wheels which had been installed by the dealer so they were painted black. The factory installed wheels were color matched and cost up to $55 extra...depending on the choice of tires.

Leaving it just like this, except for a Blair Patrick 428/464, toploader, Opentracker front end stuff, and a nine inch rear. Maybe I'll use some SEM rattlecan maroon on the real rusty spots but I'm not sure. JimM

  19. Was there ever a 5 bolt small cap(9.25") wheel made in a 14 or 15"? I'm building a sleeper '62 and would like to use the small Falcon caps if possible, but would likely shear the 4 bolt studs off it - 575+ hp twin turbo SBF.

I'm not aware of any small-cap five-lug wheel. Unless the 13-inch, five-lug Fairlane wheels used the small cap. At one time, I was seriously contemplating an adapter to run the small cap on a large-cap wheel.

Clayton, was '65 the end of the small-cap wheel? One of the wheels I used had "67 Falcon" painted on the inside of the rim in junkyard yellow paint marker and a code stamped in the spider that read "7 M G", which made me think that it might have been a 1967 wheel.

You might try early Econoline 14" wheels they used the small center wheels and they used the small dog dish hubcaps

The small cap wheels were only used on the small cars (Falcon, Comet, early Fairlane and early Mustang)...while the large cap wheels were making their appearance on the big Fords as early as '61 or '62. I don't believe there was a small cap incarnation of the 5-lug Ford 14" rim, ....or a 5-lug version of the 13" rim for that matter.

The early Econolines ran 5-lug (most likely 14" ) rims that appear to be large cap....most likely a large cap variation from the large 1960 to 1962 full-size base model Fords like the Custom or early full-size Fairlane.

Well, I've seen five-lug 13s for sale both on the HAMB and TFFN, so while I haven't laid hands on them, I'm pretty certain they exist. The first part of your comment has me confused: large-cap wheels must go back at least to 1952 because those are the hubcaps I had on my Maverick wheels - and I assume they started in 1949 with the 5 on 4.5" bolt circle. But none of those would be four-lug wheels, of course.

Here's my 1965 Falcon XP ute.
The second car I ever owned...stored for 20 years and now about to get a new lease on life with a 347 stroked Windsor and a new Roush intake scored from Craigslist.

Also thinkin' about some RRS (Google it) upgrades if I can afford it later.
