I took a look at just doing a one piece door glass but I think it woul leave the door too weak. I'd like to see what you come up with, as right now I am planning to use the windwings.

    Rock on!

    Nice build Farmer :)
Here is how I did the alternator problem. First I used a GM alternator, but it didnt look right. And there was a problem tightening the belt. So I mounted a MOPAR alterator this winter, and I had to turn it upside down to make it work. And you must use the outer groove. (inner groove is power steering)
First time on the HAMB :) Hope the pics uploads :)

Thank you 37_plycoupe! That is exactly how I plan to do mine, great to see some pictures of how you did it. I also plan to run a dual groove pulley. The inner one will be useless for me as I'm not using power steering, so I'll machine that off. Did you make that alternator bracket? The whole engine looks great! Thanks again.

Yes I have made the brackets. For the alterator its just a plate with a nut (M10) welded on it. Then grinded smooth. Are you going to use GM or MOPAR alternator??

Thanks for the info 37_plycoupe. I'm going to use a GM mini 100 amp alternator. Here's a pic with the engine builder Eddie Haines and the initial idea of positioning the alternator. Unfortunately this isn't going to work as the frame is fairly narrow.

Finished off the other electric window for the passenger door today. Then had to cut a part of the running track and glass holder for both windows in order to make it all fit properly. Then tore it all apart again and painted the aluminium parts black. Installed the door handle mechanisms and installed the electric windows again when the paint was dry.

Moving on to the running tracks and locking stuff tomorrow.

:eek:BEFORE I FORGET, I'm missing the door link for the drivers side. (the long piece of metal from the door handle to the door lock). So if anyone can help me where I could find one, I would appreciate it. (it's a fairly difficult piece to fabricate myself.....)

After having installed the electric window the last couple of days, it was time to work on the door locks. After careful thought, I changed over the door handles and needed to bring the window running track more away from the lock. After a bit of drilling, bolting and fiddling, I got the mechanism to work on the passenger side. (Still looking for a door lock link for the drivers side......) ;)

Good to hear you're still alive Glenn! I'm pretty sure it would fit. It may be a little shorter (not sure) but I could lengthen it, no probs. The link is just hard to re-produce with all it's curves etc. If you could help me out, that would be awesome.:D:D:D

There are plenty of car covers and wheel covers on ebay..........I'm also getting a bit sick of having to go through 64 pages in order to find maybe 4 pages of 40/41 Plymouth parts.......

Had a few hours to spare today and cleaned up/sanded the window tracks back to bare metal for both sides, including the spacers. A tedious and dirty job, but they came out looking great. (especially since no one will ever see them again when they're covered by the interior door panels....)

Looks great sir! You should get a small bead blast cabinet. It makes short order out of the little items and does a great job. I purchased mine from harbor Freight. And its one of my favorite shop pieces of equipment...

Nope, not at all..Its just all the nokes and crannys I hate trying to sand by hand...

But hey On a different note, did you eliminate your parcel shelf in the back? I was thinking about that on mine to be able to add a rear seat to make the car a 4 passenger. But then it arises the question if that parcel tray contributes to the structural integrity of the body..??

thats like therapy. looking good eric. When you search for 40 plymouth stuff on e-bay and you get all the listings that come up. On the left hand side they have it broken down like clothing, literature, etc. Click on the one that says vintage parts and that will bring up all the oem stuff. hope that helps.

I just posted a picture of my electric door lock install, Eric. I was pretty pleased with it. I didnt have to modify my window tracks at all.

What I don't have is a "manual override" if something happens and I can't get the electrics and remote to work. Got any ideas?

  21. Rock...Your trunk will still be keyed...right? If so, build an access door that you can fit through in the back seat. Then you can climb in through the trunk and get the door open. Sounds goofy, but I think it's a better option than breaking a window to get in.

For the cowl vent...do you think you'll wind up really ever using that at all since you'll have A/C? If not, weld the seam so it blends in with the body and get rid of the bracket. Problem solved. Plus it will be one less place for water to leak in if you get stuck in the rain.

NOPE. We ain't going down that road. I'll come up with something better than crawling though the trunk and a trapdoor, for sure.

I am not welding up my cowl vent, Dan. I don't really like to use AC unless it's really hot. Losing the cowl vent is not an option. Thanks, anyway.

I'm leaving the parcel shelf where it is. (it hides my fuel cell, battery and airride system. The upper horizontal top piece of the parcel shelf does look sturdy, I'm sure it helps structurally.(whether it is necessary is an other question). With my 500 horses, it certainly won't hurt.

I think you would need to look at a 4 passenger coupe to see if there is any extra reinforcement somewhere. I doubt if there would be though....

I just checked out your thread, and the electric door lock looks good. I won't be using them.

With regards to the manual override: I'm going to be using these hollow door jam pieces for the wire of my electric windows. (from Juliano's). Why not run a wire through them connected to your lock. Then run the wire through the footwell exiting in your fender.......I would do that on the passenger side (the door being used the least) and cover the wire with rubber where it goes through the door jam, so there is no abrasive action against your other wires running through it. Hope this helps.

Great!! I can run my wires and my "manual override" through those. Thanks, Eric!

I'm going to install them on/in the doors tomorrow. Now the original door jams are a thin piece of metal entering the door through a small slit. I'm going to drill it open and see if I can make it work. I'm presuming there will be some work on the body as well. I'll know more tomorrow.....

It certainly is turning into a thread of proportion now......btw, I think the door handles you are offering will work with a little modification.

Email sent on your Mercruiser intake manifold.
