Nothing like stirring it up. I havent had a chance to call around yet. I also will need a new Window net and Helmet.

Its a Bit Confusing but this is what Bandimere is going to enforce this year.

<CENTER>[IMG]</CENTER>NHRA has published their rule revisions and updates for the 2012 season. All updates are available online at NHRAracer.com.

Rules of most note for sportsman racers include:
    1. SNELL 2000 helmets are now expired. Racers 13.99 and quicker and motorcycle/snowmobile/ATV and Jr Dragster competitors must have current SNELL or SFI approved helmets. The most common are SNELL, and the 2005 dated helmets are good until 1/1/2017 and 2010 dated helmets are good until 1/1/2022.
    2. Super Street competitors must now have an lower engine oil containment device. A belly pan may be used in lieu of a "diaper".
    3. Advance ET competitors must have a head and neck support device that is dated within 5 years.
    4. Window Nets, as required, must be within 2 years of certification.
    5. At the NHRA Summit Racing E.T. Finals in Division 5, all vehicles 9.99 and quicker must have a lower engine oil containment

The thing I dont understand is how all those Super street /Stock cars were allowed to run out there at Pomona without the Diaper.

I still have to put my car back together, I'm still aways away from being ready. I'm hoping to have the car up to Jardine Headers at the end of the month.

Ken;I think there is a lot of confusion on the diapers and window nets within the tech guys!!I was told at Irwindale,I would need a diaper this season, not true[YET].Then if you read that little print out that came with the renewal notice,"Cars running 10.3 and quicker need a window net",how are you supposed to attach it if you don't have a full cage, considering you don't need a full cage until 9.99?I was also told I needed the new SFI certified roll bar padding,I did it then see that I could have kept my old padding until 9.99!!!A friend went to Famoso for a T&T today, ran 11.0s and one 11.17,never got popped for no rollbar or harness!!!How are we supposed to know what to do?It looks like NHRAs own tech guys don't know!!! ROY.

  5. Roy:

That's why I'm a slow guy and run 11.50 or slower and have a blast without all the expense

    FE

I'll save my money up and go faster in the Wagon, by then maybe they will have all the crap figured out.. LOL!!!

It has gotten impossible to find photos of Comets back in the day that have not been shown, some more than once! All of us with "NEW" 64/65 Comets are trying to keep the cars in the limelight and keep this thread alive.I enjoy reading about the exploits of the original cars and where they are,but such a limited amount of cars between the 64/65"Factory" cars, there is not much news! JMO,ROY.

One of our local tracks had a driver meeting and stated they will not enforce some of the "new" NHRA rules at their weekly bracket races. Some of this stuff is getting out of hand. Eddies smarter than many of us, he is able to avoid the hassle.

Eddie are you going to get the new Jardine headers?

Check with your local strip first , there are A lot of tracks that dont like the rule changes also.

And I'm not sure it may only be required for NHRA sactioned races , Its going to be an interesting year.

    Thanks Steve

Was Fast Eddie done with it at this time or did he get it yet. Summer of 64 it says in the caption. either way it dosent appear that Fast Eddie had The car very long for himself.
You dont see him in a 65 until after the big 4 got theres and had already ran at the winternationals.I need to get a collection of drag news to keep it straight.

What a crazy time line back then.

Digging the Comet script on the side, trying to figure out what I like best.

I was wondering if Hawaii Raceway Park, that is mentioned in the caption with the wagon, is that in Hilo Hawaii? We vacationed on the Big Island a few years ago and I made it a point to seek out a drag strip in Hilo. Kind of a side trip. Not much running the day we were there, but I remember trying to find out from the locals where it was. I remember that you had to drive down a dirt road and through a the local sanitation facility to get to the strip. Kind of nerve racking with the wife and kids. Would be neat if they were the same tracks, to think I was where those pictures were taken a long time ago. Just curious.

I used to have a '64 Comet the same color as this one. It got hit on the front and I had it stored at a race track used to work at. The place sold and I didn't know it in time to save the car. All I have left is the hub caps and the owners manual. I think they called this color Anniversary Silver or something like that.

Hawaii Raceway Park was located on Oahu.It has been shut down supposedly after it couldn't pass a Health Code inspection.I know for a fact that the bathrooms were terrible. There might have been a few safety violations as well...it was'nt the best of tracks, but it was all we had.
