I noticed it. Very clever, because that guy nearly bent over for his "friend".

Okay, I'm a Bonneville fanatic. I try to go every year. I love Land Speed Racing. OR LSR for those who dig acronyms. But there's this Hot Rod Hoe down in Texas called the "Lone Star Roundup". I'm sure it's a great blow out, and I'd love to see it. It gets almost as much print here as Viva Las Vegas, or the GNRS. but every time I see it mentioned, I'm thinking, "Cool, something about Land Speed Racing". I wish they had another name for it. Luckily the coverage of the Roundup is so cool, I'm not disappointed by browsing the thread, and maybe someday I'll actually make it down there. Hey, thanx for the vent.

Yeah, I do the same thing... I see LSR and it means Land Speed Racing to me, and it's a term that's been used for over half a century. Maybe the boys in Texas could refer to their deal as LSRU?

  6. I read a post on a thread on this forum where a guy had to re-drill a hole in his spindle to accept a "carter" pin. Huh?

That is a hole that accepts a Vote for Jimmy Carter pin, strange place to show your support though...

Have you noticed how many stories on TV and newspapers state that a 'tire iron' was used to commit a crime?
I suspect that most Americans under 50 have never seen a tire iron unless maybe they work at a tire store. I am sure that a tire iron is an extremely rare item on American streets. I used to wonder if they meant jack handle but I suspect those are rare on the streets too. What kind of jacks come with cars they sell now? Are they scissor jacks with a rod for a handle? How would you attack someone with that?

Theres a thread on the HAMB talking about 'trifive;' Fords
    The trifive Fords were 1957, 58 and 59, not 55, 56 and 57

A lot of new cars don't come with jacks, and some don't come with spares... which disgusts me that they assume if you get a flat the world stops spinning and you have to call a tow truck...

Many times, but don't feel bad.

When the word "car" is constantly repeated during the description of a... CAR! Example: '64 Dodge Polara, special order 413 'car', original 4 speed 'car', factory air 'car', etc.

This may have already been mentioned, but I really didn't want to read 73 pages of annoying statements!

"Value will only go up", "classic" or "soon to be a classic", and "muscle car". These terms are common in ads for 80's cars here.

"Classic 1985 firebird muscle car, value will only go up".

When people state a certain car is OT, "I did this on my OT 94 Subaru" as if saying it's OT makes it okay, or lets us know in case we were unsure...

OT, but in some neighborhoods "conversate" is a word.

  27. I wouldn't venture to speak for everybody, but I know that some (myself included) state that a car is 'OT' because we recognize that the car we are referencing is off topic... as opposed to guys like this who don't understand the HAMB and think their cars are, or should be, on topic: http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=652437

Sometimes including 'OT' saves 30 responses from guys saying that the car is OT. :)

  28. OT- blah blah in the title alerts others ( read: do not open here because this ain't about traditional hotrods or customs)
