Hey everyone I'm currently working on my 52 ford pickup and have been bouncing back and forth on whether or not to lower it using lowerin leaf spring or going the IFS way if anyone has pics of either one and list some cons and pros it would really help me with this thanks ahead of time
Here's mine: 1950 F1 with MII and coils up front and lowering springs and 1" blocks in the rear, rearend on top of the springs with shallow notches.
I'll take a quick picture of my 52 F1 tomorrow and post. Used reversed eye monoleafs in the front and reversed eye mainleaves with two leaves removed in the back. Looks great! Eventually had to use dropped tie rod ends to clear the oil pan, so plan on that if you go this way.
Thanks man. I bought it chopped, it's a heavy chop, the windshield is about 7.5 inches or so tall, just above a dollar bill width! As for responses, they'll come. Depends on the crowd at the time. Do a search on F1s or check out the Bonus Built group for lots more info and pics. Hope this helps a bit. Phil
Thanks everyone even you 117 sorry if i seem a little pushy I work all the time and have twin so when I have time to work on my truck I wanna get Sh*t done
Info/Pics 1948 to 1952 Ford F1 Trucks here is a thread with some good pics you pushy little FNG A quick search will turn up dozens more.
see my avitar. clarence. 1948 f-1; 5" chop; aspen/volare front; 15" rear wheels; 14" front wheels. at the time of this pic half of the rear leafs had been removed. they since have been reinstalled. i got tired of the rear bottoming on every highway expansion joint. some day i'll put the rear axle on top of the leaf springs.
Check out this site of Nastalgia Sids form Oklahoma i went with the 3 inch dropped axle for my 50' F1 http://http://www.droppedaxles.com/ http://www.droppedaxles.com/
Thank you all for the pic I think I got a pretty good idea of what kind of stance I want for my truck I will post some pic as I do the work thank again
heres mine, malibu sub with cut el-camino coils (1 1/2) the rear is flipped with 5 leafs pulled and spring hangers moved up two bolt holes rides pretty smooth doesnt bottom out as much as i thought it would the front will come down a little more once i get new tires (right now the fronts are almost 28" tall
Damn riding low on a dirt road crazy there's no way I could do that in my town nothing but cows and dairys still awesome ride
Yeah, sold it a few years back. It wasn't for sale, I gave him a price I thought would make him go away. Nope, he wanted it. Oh well. Later, Bill
Definitely check out Sids Dropped axle. Just installed a 3" drop axle with a few leaves removed. I'll try to post a pic later.
I have a 48 F1 and installed a 3 inch dropped axel. On the rear I removed half of the leaves. Sorry no photos as the truck is apart. I bought my dropped axel from speedway motors. The hardest part was getting the king pins to come out. I ended up taking my front axel to the local Ford dealer and they got the king pins removed with an air hammer. Also speedway suggest you buy their 2 inch tie rod drops which I did but they are on backorder until May1, so if you're in a hurry try a different supplier. One more issue is that my steering arm is hitting the shock so I now have to get shocks that are smaller in size. I hope this helps.
