I'm one of these retards. Kind of generic like I call all soft drinks a coke also. Been doing it 59 years.

I used to argue the engine vs motor thing, until one day somebody told me to jump on my enginecycle and go for a ride. I gave up the argument after that.

  4. "Ready to restore" .... because it wasn't ready before?

  5. Or more specifically " ideal for restoration" ya know why? It's completely FUBAR! What could be more ideal?

you know. A*B = B*A so actually lbs. ft. is the same thing as ft. lbs.

    shit that annoys me.

Well said, threeston. I never understood why someone changed it to LBS-FT anyway, but it really makes no difference. Algebra I.

Was reading some threads tonight and one that I keep seeing is when someone calls a Willys a Willie, or Willy...

Seems a lot of folks don't know that "Willys" is the correct spelling, the 's' is part of the name, even less know the proper pronunciation, "Will-ease" is wrong.

  13. To, when you mean to say Too. Grammar is now over.

And that is an interesting point, I was reading a book about American Automotive history a few years back that was published in 1933, great read, and it said that the founder of the company pronounced his name "Willis" but called the cars "Will-ease" and being as it was written when he was still alive that is the way I have always taken it.

Including the knuckleheads who produce American Pickers. One of their "finds" on last night's episode was a Willys-Knight dealer sign and the little visual pop-up factoid about the company referred to the founder (John North Willys) as John Willy.

"its got a "blown" motor in it".

  17. Well, here we go again. Watch and listen to this ad, produced and distributed by Willys. Did they not know how to pronounce the name of their own company?

There is another film by Willys, which I cannot find, describing the Jeep. Again, the company name is pronounced"Willis" over and over.

Thanks a lot, great ad! So I would say thatthe nam thing has been an issue from the start for Willys being as that book I read was from 1933.

So easy, a blonde bimbo can say it.

SMOWmobile? Got a hairlip or somethin'? (Sorry couldn't resist, Fordy). A "sled" is a snowmobile in these parts too, and "Leadsled" would be the term for a custom.

On the subject of pronunciation, how about MARRcedes? Christ, it's Mercedes, Merr-say-deez.

  26. LOL! Woops! There I fixed it!

Probably the most annoying to anyone with a valid GED is the often HAMBster use of prolly. Regards, Ron
