My experience was that when I graduated from boot camp I was E1, after I graduated from A school 3 wks later, I was E2, E3 and up you had to take tests to advance, I joined in 7-73, by 7 of 77 I was e4, and they wanted to give me
e4 in oct 77, but i was due to get out in july,, so i was retired after 4 yrs.

Invariably there will be someone smitten with the iconography that is "Barbraella". Personally, I found "Klute" more compelling because of the effortlessness with which she carried the role of a professional prostitute.

 

That is Port Huron near the river looking out onto Lake Huron in the distance. That is the Port Huron to Sarnia Canada Bridge. I have stood where those people are standing. There are now two bridges standing side by side because of the high amount of traffic. Here is a more modern shot showing two bridges...

His partner was non other than the Father of the Belly Tank=Bill Burke of San Gabriel,CA. That car mold was taken off of Robert Petersen's Cistalia.
It became Bill's Bonneville car that has Sonny's Muffler of Monterey Park,CA. on it.

Bill made many fiberglass racers and that man is traditional as tradition gets! His son Steve made and patented a flexible body that is kinda rubber in substance. It's crazy because it can take any form under it.

Mickey and Bill made a 2cyl Pontiac powered streamliner that can be seen at the Wally Parks NHRA Museum. He also made the Pumpkin Seed
That was sponsored by Sports Car Graphic Magazine (where Bill was ad mgr), ran a Bill Stroppe Falcon 6 and was later sold to Mickey Thompson, his son Danny donated it to Alhambra High School which didn't know what to do with it .

It ended up with Jim Travis who knows Bill quite well and was the former owner of So-Cal Coupe. It now runs a Don Ferguson Ardun. How's that for Traditional? That's over 60yrs of glass.

-There's not many that really inspire me or cause me to stand in awe but Mickey Thompson seemed to be everywhere, race everything, win all the time, make every part, set many records, sponser many drivers and still develop new ideas, companies and inventions.
Sorry to see him gone before his time.

Well, this INSTANT CLASSIC vintage drive-in restaurant photo seems to be awfully popular on the internet!
After I ran onto it on the University of Vermont site I mentioned a few days ago, Andy, Moe and Woody1946
(Max) found leads to larger versions of it, including on Shorpy. Oddly, one site even has it copyrighted and
available for sale as, I guess, art-print quality. Maybe somebody can help me understand how someone in
present day can claim copyright on a pic shot more than 80 years ago, obviously by a news photographer or
other pro, judging from the large format (?). I doubt that the University of Vermont or the author of the book I
referenced earlier would intrude on someone's copyright. So that question throws me a bit. Anyway, BELOW
is the larger version from Shorpy member DClark26, which was located on the 'net at Shorpy by Max. Many
Shorpy members find keen pix in the archives of the U.S. Library of Congress, so my guess is their original
author/owner turned over this and other negs and prints to the Library of Congress OR to the collections of
some other major, public metropolitan libraries. Wouldn't you think?

At any rate, turns out it was shot at Carpenter's, Sunset and Vine in LA. I speculated about 1930 at the latest.
