So I ran across this 34 roadster and had to check it out. I really didnt need a project but was told it ran and drove . Well sure is a old hotrod but has a ton of mods done to it and some good :Dsome sketchy:eek: also some bad. It has the good and bad but still a old roadster and I think it need to be put back on the rails and remove a few of the not so pretty things. So the question is I need a few 33-34 roadster stuff and a good firewall and and ..............:D

Thats an interesting mix of parts - typical of the era it was built in.
    Whats the frame setup like?

something looks very wrong with that car. is the body itself still normal proportions? maybe it is just the way the picture was taken.

  4. Sure looks heavily sectioned or is it just a heavy channel. Hard to tell

  5. Looks like the rear fender have been pushed up 3-4 inches, VERY odd proportions

  6. I had a coupe setup like that built in the late 50's with a Rocket engine.

Heavy channel... fenders mounted above the lip... and a 32 Truck grill... but I had motorcycle front fenders to qualify for the Street coupe cl*** and this car looks like it has model A front fenders... heck I wish I had better pictures to look at.

    That's an awesome find John!

Hey John... with all the technology we have today... think you could have the photo's at the proper at***ude... hahaha...!

Is it shortened behind the doors?

  9. Not really... when the fender is moved that much it gives the appearance of a shortened quarter.

Good eyes it has been shortened in the back 6 inches. Please dont ask me why? it was the 1960's, they must of had abunch of something to make them decisions:D.

The car has not been section but the fenders don't do it any good.

Somewhere in the middle of that mess is a really beautiful car looking for a fresh start. I love the 60's and even some of the 70's but that is one ugly mix. I guess there really is a case for to each there own an dI respect that. But man a 33 or 34 roadster doesn't need to go that way.

Yep all model a fenders and good thing they are just bolted on. They will be coming off today along with a bunch of yuck

  16. Knock the ugly off of that and it will be a beauty.
The 32ish grille shell is kinda different and looks good but what the hell were they thinking with those A fenders?

Maybe the guy really wanted a A or 32 roadster and all he could find was a 34. Bet there's a build thread out there " make a 29-34 roadster" lol

Looks like one of those "home built" cars you would see in the 1950's Popular Mechanics.

Hope that comes apart quickly, and the unwanted parts can help recover the cost of it.

Afraid to ask for better pic's!

  22. Looks like the channeled it and left the fenders at the stock height. or raised the fenders equal to the channel. it is an old custom trick, I have heard that they called it the crouching tiger look, but hell you hear a lot of things.

John one thing is for sure, you do have a lot to work with there. its not like you found some rusted out old hulk to try and scab back together.

You said you need a firewall I have a comeplete cowel section with a nice firewall from a closed car that I would donate to the car if we can figure a way to get it to ya. If you are not in a big hurry I get up that way once in a while but it may be a month or two, I could bring it up then or if someone has a better idea hit me up. Super cool old car, hope to see more of it! 33 or 34 is on my dream car list! Jim

Lose the fenders, grill and wheels. Go back with a 33-34 grill, some nice chrome reverse wheels, and drive the pi$$ outta it!

I'd like to see better pics, it will give a better idea of its proportions. Pretty hard to really get a feel for it in close-up 3/4 photos. Yes, it does appear to be a bit "cosmetically challenged" in its present form, but at least some of that could be due to the angles the photos are shot at, and that they are taken so close. Depending on what lens was used, these photos WILL be somewhat distorted, and 3/4 views will magnify the distortion. Not saying its not, well a little homely, just saying that these photos are not going to give a really good idea of what it actually looks like.
Oh yea, and the wheel/tire combo REALLY doesnt help either.

And I definately WOULD NOT unchannel it unless you are also going to lengthen the 1/4s. Unchanelling it will EMPHASIZE its shortness, wrong move. I know its the new age HAMB solution to eliminating traditional cars from the map, but it is sure going to make things worse in this case.

Ok, just looking at your photos, I would can the Model A front fenders, replace them with cycle fenders, can the rear fenders and replace them with some heavily bobbed '33/'34 fenders in the same position, swap the wheels/tires for 6.00x15 WWW on front, 7.50x15s on the back, and lancer caps or fiestas. Done. Would change the ENTIRE look of the car. The attached photos are what I am talking about as far as the rear fenders are concerned. And no, I am NOT suggesting you should put big-*** square turn signals in the fronts.

I know what Frank is thinking right now. "Hey, how come he hasnt posted these on the 34's with deuce grill shells thread??!!" I'll get to it, I'll get to it.:D

Another thing that I would take from these photos. You could lose the cover over the front frame horns, and replace it with a chopped grill shell, rather than the one on the car that has had the bottom cut off.
