Well had a blast today.. I said chop starts at 10:00and 9:45 there was a fine bunch there and everbody wanting to get started.. So I just marked out where I wanted cuts and the boys started cutting.. before you know it the roof was off.

Now I wanted 4 out of the front and was thinking 5 1/2 from the middle so we build a stand for the roof to sit on at 5 1/2 inch in the middle.. we made sleves for the two front post after 4 inch was cut from them and removed the B piller from the roof. The plan was to get a idea on where everthing was going today and give everbody some idea of what it will look like.. After laying the front in place I didnt like the 5 1/2 in the middle.. 4 and 1/2 looked much better. Cut up the back of the roof as well as the trunk to see where the roof would sit. After playing around with it for a bit I found the look I was after.. So what you think?

Now that quarter I cut up is back haunting me agian.. The stock 52 quarter to me looks alot nicer and flows nice with the roof.. the one I cut up flows too much.. I leaning with putting the stock quarter back on on passagers side. to me too much is going on on the cut up side.

Too cool.. Butter fingers!! lol.. thanks again for all your help today and the use of your port-a-power..Had a blast..

  21. Damn fine work there fitzee . Many hands make light work for sure ! I like the passenger side myself . I like the flow of the quarterpanel . It all seems to be running to the very back of the car all on the same planes . Your car , your call though !!! My day was frustrating . And as Forrest Gump says ( Thats all I have to say about that ) cant win em all !!! The Fleetline looks excellant whichever quarter you decide to run . Andy...

    Fun times!
Hey, I didn't do too bad taking that video...considering I had a camera in one hand taking stills while doing the video with the other! Hahaha

It's amazing how little you have to move a roof to totally change the look of a vehicle.
Like fitzee said, the initial fit was a bit low at the middle so we lifted it an inch and it looked perfect...to us anyway!
Same thing with the back window area.
Really have to sneak up on the flow, make many minor adjustments and spend some time sitting and staring...

Looking good boys! Great flow on the profile ! I agree with you on the original quarter panels, I prefer the 51/52 shape...if ya gotta weld one back on you might as well extend them a few inches while you are at it :D. Are ya back at it on Sunday?

"hold on I don't have a hold of it" and everyone
keeps going. Too bad the video doesn't show the
guy with the quick hands, (sorry don't know your name)
who caught the center post just as it came out of my hand.

Don't worry...the tip of your nose will grow back!
Man, that could have been really nasty though. If you had of been an inch farther in over the cut off trunklid when it popped you would have been in serious trouble!
    Real lucky......

When a spring loaded trunk lid that has been cut off flyes by my face,Im lucky, but when it brings up in your buddies face!!thats not good. could of been alot worse then a scrape on the tip of your nose.. That could of been nasty..
