What'd you learn to drive in?

Lets see what you guys learned to drive in!

 

Grampa's 50 Caddy with an auto trans, in about 54 or so. First car with a stick was uncles 55 XK 140. Let the clutch out six inches and nothing happens. The next 1/4 inch and I killed the engine the first time, and spun the wheels the second time, (damp grass).

 

I got a motorcycle license before a car license.

 

Grandma's 61 Falcon 4dr. 6 cyl/3spd. Up and down the driveway.
First time on city streets...Dad's 62 Cadillac.

 

Im probably in the younger group around here so what I learned to drive isnt excatly H.A.M.B. friendly.
But it was cool to me.
My Pops was an AMC man back in the day so we had everything from this 68 SST to a 69 Javlin AMX to a frickin Eagle 4X4!

 

My Moms 1967 Falcon Sports Coupe. Wish I still had it!

 

12 years old in 1973.... my grandfather had me driving my dad's 1917 Model T Ford...

 

57 chevy wagon, 6 cyl. with a Spark-o-matic 3 speed stick..

 

A'71 Pinto, with Ansen slots for the cool factor.

 

I'm Sorry. I thouht it said what did I learn at the Drive-in!!!! 57 Ford Ragtop was my first car.

 

My folks 1950 Chevy 3 on the tree.

 

a 1982 chevy crapalier. (cavalier) wasnt pretty by any means but i learned alot about wrenchin. and, what farmers will do to "fix" a problem. (a twisty tie on the carb? realy? wtf)

 

learned to drive in my 49 Chevrolet. 261 with a 3 speed. someday I hope to drive it again.

 

Learned in a '64 Impala

But took my road test in a new '78 Malibu.

I learned to drive ON a 1948 Farmall H, then graduated to a 1951 Ford F6.

 

My very first drive was in a very nice Hudson convertable, '49 I belive. My mother was going out to do errends, got the car started when she remembered the shopping list back in th house. I saw this as my perfect chance to try out my skills.. Got her into gear, and off we went. I was 2 years old at the time. The neighbors fence stopped me about three blocks away. I've always been into cars!

 

65 F100...straight six, 3 on the tree was my first driving experience, although most of my early driving was done in the 54 Ford that I still have.

Had it for over 25 years.

 

1961 Ford

 

14 years old in my 38 Ford fordor. Black with wide whites & skirts.

 

Vauxhaul Victor "field car".

 

I was about 11 or 12 years old my dad a business that he had to walk a lot house to house and I would drive the truck along for him to get the orders out of, 1952 Chevy panel truck 6 cyl 3 on the tree.

 

Learned to drive in a 54 GMC log truck...6 cyl, 4 speed with a 2 speed Brownlite axle. I was 8 at the time so I learned to steer and shift the gears by setting on my brother-in-laws knees. Soon I was able to drive it by my self by sitting on two Sears and Roebuck catalogs , had one hell of a time pushing the clutch in, had to twist sides ways to push it down.

....Used my uncle's 51 chevy truck....back on the farm in the early 60's

 

38 Chevy Coupe with a 396/350 turbo. I thought I was pretty cool until my dad brought home a Ford Festiva that cost a whopping $75...

The Drivers-Ed car was a 1978 Malibu 4 door. My parents had a 1976 LeMans 4 door, and I learned how to drive a stick shift in my 55 Chevy. Pics are from 1979 and 2011.

 

No pix. 1956 Chevy 210 4dr. sedan stick six (my fathers car) and a '61 Chevy Biscayne 4dr. stick six. (neighbor lady let me use it.)
