Lost a good friend last night.

Joel Burkhardt...jpbanjo here on the hamb...76 year old teenager. He loved to play the banjo.

Here's some pics of his '32 Roadster that he bought in 1956...it's still in his garage. There are other shots from 1958, 1959, a show from 1960 and another show in 1964, and how it still looks today. He had it 60 years.

gonna miss him at geezers hot rod lunch every wednesday...rip Joel.

Ryan...could you please give him Member Emeritus status? Thank you.

I do HOPE that whoever ends up with his 32 ... fully understands the history of the roadster and the relationship between him and his 32.

3WLarry ... looks like you need to step up and became a roadster guy :D :D

  6. I hate loosing these guys....my dad's generation (too young for WW2 and too old for Vietnam) is starting to fade.

It's this group that taught me hotrodding.

RIP Joel....I hope they have old metal in Heaven.

Very sad. There's getting to be quite an impressive crew of old rodders on the other side. I'll bet the cruising scene is fantastic up there.

    Larry,
It's always sad to loose a good friend,
I lost one in Don Ferguson 5 years ago, he was 79
Don had some beautiful Ford/Merc trucks, all of them Flathead powered.
After 3 years of lawyers and probate, Don's estate auction was held.

I was able to acquire one of Don's Favorites, a nice '39
I Drove it home (from the auction) thinking of Don and
all the sweat equity he put into the restore 39.

After all is said and done, it's nice to have something to remember
    a good friend with.

I think today is a fine day to go out and start the truck up as I work in the garage
-Just like Don would have done every weekend of the 50+ years that he
built and enjoyed restored Flathead powered Mercs and Ford.

Larry, thank you for posting as it was a humble reminder that Good friends don't last for ever
and that there is a reason I care for these things.
It will be my day soon enough and I just hope that things get passed on to friends and people who car.

    COOL ...
It is great that it will stay in the family.
I bet that his son's ownership will make Joel happy.

Very knowledgeable when it came to '32's and an expert 5 string banjo picker.
