    That needs building. Something like Chuck Penrys car, but with a beer keg gas tank instead of a PU box. Go man go!

    Thanks Hackerbuilt. I remembered the thread, just couldn't remember the name! Damned limited brain capacity!!!


    Thanks weez! I loved that little print, and had it sitting out to take over and buy a frame and mat for about a year ago. Got side tracked for a day or six and the girlfriend threw it out... Not sure why I keep her sometimes!

  7. On this whole subject, I'm a huge "No Goodniks" fan, Keith.Have mine framed and mounted in front of the PC so I see it all the time. Love your work. It's truly inspired.:)

    Best advice to the thread origininator is, as suggested, pick a year and discount anything not available before that. 'glass bodies where available as early as '52. They where comp bodies and very thin but some made it to the street.

    Here's my take on a circa '59 T;

    >Model A frame, kicked 4", bobbed front horns
    >'37 to '40 front axel assem. with Model A spring behind the axel thru the bones
    >'42 to 48 open drive pick-up rear axle with Model A spring behind the axel on '35-6 bones
    >Painted 16" spokes or solids with rings and caps
    > 303 Olds or 331 Caddy adapted to a '39 style trans
    >shortened Deuce shell and King Bee's
    > steel body ( or 'glass if you must), in Washinton Blue/black interior
    >Turtle deck with '48 Chebby or Ford taillights
    > '25 windshield lower half slightly raked (Isky style)
    > Lakes style headers with muffs underneath and pencil tips out thru the rear nerf

    The 2 things I see wrong with most "50's and '60's clones are that they are built too low and a (uggg) tube axel, unless of corse it's a '37 tuber.

    VERY few cars were using ford 16" spokes in '59. Was fading out in the early fifties. The "spokes with overheads" thing is modern, HAMB history revisionist stuff. if you like it, or figure you gotta do it to be "one of the boys" thats fine, I dont have an issue with that, but dont try to muddy the waters and pass it off as late fifties "period correct". As far as that goes, if you are doing 1959, full wheelcovers like 15" Lancers, Plymouth cones or Fiestas are as correct as solids with beanies.
    Other than the spokes, and MAYBE the windshield (tall windshields were pretty popular on T's in this period, Ivos car was a BIG influence in the late fifties) you pretty much have it right.

    The way I figure it, most of the history revisionist guys already think I'm an arrogant prick, so now I dont have to worry about what anyone thinks of me, I am free to just say it like it is.:D

    Hey gang! Got a friend of the girlfriends (her other-mother, my other-mother inlaw to be?!) over helping to get my scanner scanning in anything smaller that fill scale battleship size... Here is Chuck Perry's bucket from July '64. Well, half of it at least! I'll repost it later after I get this thing tweeked.

    Sorry, Didn't mean to "muddy the water". I agree with the Fiesta's and Plymouth Cones being more correct for the period. I just never cared for them on a rod. 16" solids could be found anywhere for little or nothing. The Merc wheels were at a premium even back then. Plymouth and Ford 15" rims where around too.

    I built this about 8 years ago. Had alot of fun with it. Then a freind who paints said he had some leftover paint and would squirt it for me so i started a rebiuld.

    For those that don't know, The car at the bottom of post 144 is the Bill Roland re-do of the Tommy Ivo car in the early sixties... In all of it's cobalt blue goodness! Thanks Lurk king.

    ^^I have a Car Craft feature on it after he put the 6x2 on, but prior to the Halis. I should dig that up and post it.
