  3. As I recall of the cars in the 70's, doesn't anyone have a picture of a car that is jacked up with * painted white undercarriage, trailer lights strapped on the axle, girlfriend's first name painted on the pumpkin, and huge bondo lips put on hogged out wheel wells to accomadate giant slicks sticking out of the quarter panels

Lot of pictures of "jacked up" cars on this forum....:D
    ...

  6. Don't know if it's been mentioned yet, but another part of the 70's car fad was brake drums & pumpkins painted a contrasting color to the car like white or a day-glo color. Also the use of the prismatic stickers for pinstripes or filling trim inserts. These were part of the scene at least in NDakota.

  7. i used to love prism tape and decals .... i have speedways prism decal in the rear window of my stang

  8. Painting the rear-end white was a sixties thing .... we are talking seventies ... boat people, Angel Flight pants and Harvey Wallbangers!

this was my contribution to the site..
396,tunnel ram, cragars with M50/14's on the rear, yellow ladder bars, burgundy crushed velour inserts in the seats..loved that car,had it 14 years and sold it in '93 before the Barrett Jackson craze set in for 5 grand with no motor...still kick myself everyday but the girl I was supposed to marry at the time said I couldn't afford it and my Dirt racecar, she was probably right but at least I still race...lol
and yes it was an original SS,pic taken at my aunt's house in Syracuse,NY where we were staying for the Street Machine Nationals East.she was no trailer queen..drove it from Pittsburgh with 411 gears..gas mileage was terrible, lmao.
I loved growing up in the 70's..

its off topic, and unfinished. Stock appearing white '66 Chevy II wagon, solid lifter 327, 200cc EQ's, big compression, Team G, double pumper, fenderwell headers, 200R4 with a 9.5" lock-up converter, 4.10s, chevelle front discs, restored stock interior with a column shifter, white steel wheels, skinny tires, and poverty caps. About as un-HAMB friendly as you can get.

I was riding to school in my dads 32 ford pickup, listening to george jones on the 8 track. It was just an old beater pickup built with junk yard parts in a 1 car garage, But too me (at the age of 6-7, It was the coolest ride around. Man I can remember it like it was yesterday, Some of the best of times...

  22. Sounds like my intro, boy did I get my ass chewed on!!! Sounds kewl!

  23. I'm reminded of the 70's not-rods too which also reminds me of a joke I heard a comedian tell on TV once...

"What's with these guys with a $200 car with $2000 worth of audio?!".

I knew one of these guys - four door mid-sixties navy blue Plymouth Valiant with a monster audio system. Always seems like he and the other guys/cars like him had good weed besides the great tunage...

I bought my 69 mach 1 in 1979 and it came with indy's,glasspacks, and Gabrial Hi Jackers. The shocks are still on it,but the mags and glasspacks are long gone. Thanks to the 70's you could buy clapped out hot rods fairly cheap in the 80's clean them up, make a few bucks. The street racing was great in the late 70's early 80's.My 33 ford was rebuilt in 71 to it's current condition except for the wheels, headlights, and few other things. It's been hard not to change the interior, which looks like a 70's couch.
