Owsley Blue, Orange Sunshine, Peyote, Psilocybin, and Mescaline !!!!!

And to set the record straight, I never liked those Hippies.

I was a blue collar psychedelic connoisseur, I worked for my High Times.

Isn't that the origin of the phrase "turn on, tune in, drop out"?

I love music, but knowledge of the '70s stereo craze is what kept me from becoming a true audiophile. That's a bigger arms race than drag racing!

Timothy Leary, my spirtiual hero, or leader, originated the saying, tune , turn on, drop out. I've been dropped out for decades, its fun! And remember, Timothy didn't make Art Linkletter's daughter jump out a window on LSD , she did it on her on.

All of the hippie banter aside, the kool factor is in there big time. I can't believe I missed it the 1st time! Inspiration? Fuckin eh. There's few Vettes and F bodies with paint that would make a Leary faithful go into flashbacks. Some of the cars were quite ON topic, but I agree many are not. And that doesn't matter one bit if you can stay connected to the spirit of this shit. Those same guys were doing "our thing" before they did that, and we see a natural progression. My faves in there were, of course, lil miss hot pants stopping the Mopar, the paint on the Opel gasser-lookin car, the ads, especially the multi-colored Cuda ad, and the Chuck Miller stuff. In those days I was Dad's helper. The notables from that time for me were a Cad powered 38 Dodge pickup and a couple Cad powered Ford pickups. the Fords were a 62 short bed uni and a 67 long bed trimmed out to look like a 71. All of em were pretty damn fast. The 62 put the fear of god in a kid's 72 Camaro at HS. Ran his yapper all day so I went home and got the truck for a showdown. When I arrived he wimped out, probably from the burnout I did when I got there:cool:

  17. Ha, "I never really thought of myself as a freak, but I love to freak. . ."

1970 a I was a friends and he pulled two hits of White Double Dope out of the freezer. His brother had purchased it in the '60s and he was keeping it for just such a time as that. Owsley put so much strychnine in it back then that we both ended up laying under a tree doubled up for about 3 hours.

Ahhhh the good old days when men were men and rubers weren't invented yet.

For better or worse. I predict this to be the next big thing... enough time is passed to make it okay and let's face it It's fun if you have a sense of humour. I seriously considered air shockes on my Fairlane.. still might.

I would build a early seventies style car in a HEARTBEAT. Actually, except for the paint, thats what most of the guys who think they are building "gassers" on the HAMB are actually building.
Fenton gyros or Cragars, a "grump lump", tunnel ram, lakewood slappers, flip front end, a cable tach on the dash, and lace or panel paint, yup, I'd be down for that. Maybe i should do some digging and post a few.

This is what I remembered cars looked like in the 70s. Stickers on the quarter window could be; "Gas, Grass, or Ass. Nobody rides for free" to "Save a Tree, eat a Beaver" accompanied by Gabriel Hi-Jackers, Hooker Headers, etc...
