You are correct. The guy walking towards the Blue Hell vette dresses like Arnold Palmer. And why? Because he is going out in public. Now where did my wife put my capris?

A transition year where the cars bodies were separate from full fabricated chassis, but still not 1 piece lift up.
Around here on the Georgia based match circuit where these things came from, cars had to retain all body panels including the hood and roof, and were what the soon to come Logghe/Fiberglass Trends funny cars like Nicholsons etc. evolved from, and not the altereds seen elsewhere from the period.

There were gassers in Modified and altereds in Comp. And then there were these S/X, F/X, funny car whatever monsters.............. if there were only the chance to see them race just 1 more time. Tom S. in Tn.

Knowing absolutely nothing about AHRA, I'm left wondering if the rear axle in the car pictured wasn't moved back to run Ultra Stock and then moved up to run NHRA F/X classes ? Tom S.

Photo 31810 has Benny Cardillo's Special Formula on the trailer. This is the former Al Ekstrand "Lawman" car.

Super great news about Hans Anderson. I was a little depressed to hear he was running a Vega. Putting together a Colt is very cool!
Great batch of photos this week all!

I've always been a T/F-F/C guy, but occasionally I save interesting door car pics...

Well I'll be darned, now I'm wondering if they could move the motor around also for the more liberal classes ?

Technically they may be not HAMB friendly, but they are definitely within the spirit of this thread. I just thought it was a great picture, didn't even consider the timeline...

Take a close look at the slicks in this photo and how light the right tire is compared to how planted the left one is. That old Plymouth was making some real power there with whatever fuel that made the driver have to wear a gas mask.
Also note the absence of those little training wheels out the back found on subsequent versions driven by the later crop of autograph signers.
These were the days when it took driving skill to get one of these down a track. Tom S. in Tn.

[IMG]Here is another funny car enjoying a second life. The car was Bill Flynn's Yankee Peddler. Al Hanna bought it and ran it as the Phantam. The following year Hanna bought Al Graebers 67 Charger then his 68 Charger.

A year or 2 new but I have never seen this car.
Take it that it was Art Ward from Ward & Guzman Corvair days?
