Note in this and last pages there are banknotes with the locl banks name on them?

 

Local banks used to have the ability to create currency. The backing of the notes was through the US treasury in most cases.

 

For the fun of it I decided to look up Malta Mt. It does not look nearly as lively as it was back in the late 50s. A view from now:



This picture seems to have been taken from farther back than the one from 1958. It would appear that most of the original buildings are intact. The green apartment building at the intersection is the exact same color now as it was 54 years ago. I guess things don't change much out in the Great Plains.

No.6: take your place right in my face

 

Panels are cool, my interest started in Mid 60s Chevy vans, and moved on to 2 panels I own, '53 Chevy 3800. I just sold one of them due to hardtimes to some restoration guys. They got the 216 engine in it running already, it will be nice to see what they do to it.

My other 3800 needs a radiator for the 235 engine, but I doubt it will start since the other owners didnt seal up the engine. Who knows what got up inside there.

Anyone out there have any good ideas or references for Titling old vehicles. I checked out Broadway Title Company who deals through Maine. But the prices sure went up!

 

Did Packard build them on their own or is it coachbuilt? when, which company might this be?

 

30s. I dont know much about these old cars, but the one furthest to the left, looks like the owner may have been a sporty type of person.

Coach-built by Henney... It's a Henney-Packard service car, which is basically a utilitarian vehicle used by some funeral homes for hauling funeral supplies, graveside equipment, etc., rather than using their elaborate hearse for such tasks.

This one is typically spartan and unadorned, like most military ambulances/service cars, giving it that "panel truck" appearance.
