  2. For a such small town, there must have been a lot of rodders back in the day:

And throw in the near-by town of Eureka and it must have been a hot-bed.

  4. I could do that - although there seem to be at least two other Eurekas in the USA:

  5. Wow ! What a thread. 4 days to cover it.
I was a former member of SHIFTERS, Sydney, Australia. Club established circa '62 & as far as i know never had a club plaque. Cool decal, Jackets but alas no plaque.

  7. Well it's not one of the 98 different Shifters I have. The only known international one in the bunch is from Trenton Ontario Canada.

  8. Thanks Dennis for looking in to this. There are some amazing plaques amongst your inventory, & everyone would have a story or two. I had a look at all 98 Shifters plaques. Of interest was "Shifters" [ no town listed 49G ] & "The Shifters" [ Lodi, which has a design very similar to the Sydney clubs sticker/logo 8 ball ]. Can you PM me with an estimate for 1 & an estimate for 30 + Freight to Sydney. Australia ? The club is still active & i will forward this information for there consideration.
    Cheers Zot
N.B. Do you have any idea how many of these clubs are still active ? :)

That may be a hard question to answer but I'm sure there are a few. I have 34 different Shifters plaques on this page and some may be different than the ones Dennis has .....

  10. Cheers Bullet Nose. Great that your documenting hot rod history, I had a look at your web site, fantastic effort man ! Yes there are a few that Dennis hasn't got. There's a club plaque that i don't see; ROMANS Sydney. they are one of the oldest clubs in Australia '59 i think. It would be the classiest Plaques i have seen. Multi-coloured glossy enameled item. I will make a point of photographing one the next time i see one of there cars and post it once i work out how to get it from my camera to H.A.M.B.

Tomorrow is the 4th anniversary for this thread. When I posted it on 02/02/08 we had "almost 4000 plaque photos" and today we have over 6,500 different plaques on our site.

In the first year there were 200 posts, a lot of them with plaque photos. At the end of two years, the post count was at 400 and there were 31,657 page views and we now had over 5,000 plaques on our site.

On the anniversary last year, there had been 681 posts and 70,272 page views and our site had 5,894 plaques posted.

Today the post count is 829 and there have been 120,576 page views. Thanks to all that have posted here and if you'd like to take a look at what I've collected, the URL is .....

..... and I'm still looking for more.

I have done extensive research on Car Club plaques, and while I did not grow up here in Houston I have determined that there were over 40 club plaques in and around Houston. Most of them were made in high school shop although there were some companies who made them professionally. Currently I have located approximately 15 of which some of the more notable ones are; Millwinders, Satan's Angles, Rod Benders and Asphault Angles only to mention a few. I grew up in Madison, TN and our club was the Ram Rods which combined our high school mascot which was a ram and rods for the motor. I will try and send you some pictures later

Thanks for putting all of these plaques together. I looked through the list and didn't see this one.
Attached photo is of a re-cast of my Dad's old car club. A small car club back in the 50's West Allis, Wisconsin USA

Have you checked O'Brien Truckers website? I counted 49 different Houston plaques and Dennis can use these original patterns to make new plaques. The Houston page on our website only has 14 different plaques so you can keep me busy for a few days when you post photos of the plaques you have.

And BTW, Dennis also has an original pattern for the Madison Ram Rods .....
