  2. There were never security people checking anything before this race, I've been going to Famosa for eons.
As for people sneaking in, security was strict on Thursday at 8:30 am. I don't think sneaking in had anything to do with it, there were allready what, two dozen guys hired at that point.

  4. A simple sign at the entrance stating that a ticket was required to enter the Grove would have helped! OR, signs at the Grove entrances would help. I never needed a hand stamp before, my ticket was fine. I said howdy to the "hand stamp" ladies while leaving to put my jacket in the car, returned five minutes later to be denied entrance by the same ladies! They finally relented, but my punched ticket was not sufficient for re entry!

Some reason I was not aware of this fact? I've been throwing my Birthday party out there for years. Lots of friends come out for the party at night, just before closing time at the normal gate and buy a day pass. They were really just paying to get into the campground. This was the first year I noticed it.
Not a big deal deal just different. I'm out there for the event, the party was second anyway.

  6. More to it for sure, I was out there today and did see the fence on the west side is only 2 rows of barb wire no real fence.

  7. what I was thinkin...

In Houston, as big as it is, we have only a few good swapmeets a year. If, in order to have more meets, we had to go through some of what you guys are complaining about, it would be worth it.

Gene is such a great guy. My son has been living with Gene and is now learning everything Gene has to teach him. At 19 my son has learned what working 22 hours on a car means. HaHa, he has trouble keeping up with Gene. What an opportunity with such a great guy. Gene is holding a Metal Shaping Seminar in July at our Garage in Red Creek, NY. I can't wait!

  13. John is a good kid. Pretty sharp. He is sucking up everything he can from Gene.

  14. I think I need to take a few lesson's from you on how to be a better crew member. I worked on a two-car N/FC team at the March Meet and the only free time I had to view any part of the swap meet during the daytime were the few seconds of riding past it on the return road, in the back of the tow rig.

One question about the ropes around Bartone's pit did you ever go over and ask them why?

I don't know how Bartone was pitted, but if I had to guess why they put them up, it would be more along the lines of giving their crew guys enough room to work rather then keeping the fans at bay. Having experienced the joys of working in a completely open pit spot on all three sides in Boise last August and Phoenix this February. I can tell you, it's absolutely no fun to have just pulled a very hot cylinder head with exhaust pipes still attached, after a run, only to turn around, with parts in hand, and ask the fans leaning on the table in your pit spot if they could please move so you can set that hot SOB down, before you burn yourself.
