Exactly what I was thinking! Might only be a Falcon six for the girls car, but it has a little "extra", So how about a Hi-PO color scheme?!?!
My 390 is getting together step by step. The gold looks good to me! Still waiting for my edelbrock valve covers...
Some pics of the finished 390 FE: Thanks for all the input guys, Im happy that I painted my motor gold.
Have any of you guys found and good rattlecan gold/metallic gold to use? I wanna do the motor in rusty gold.
Would it be sacrilegious to paint the 302 going in my '54 Ford Olds gold? I mean, a 302 isn't exactly the most traditional engine in the world, so I suppose an Olds gold Ford 302 isn't that much worse. I have a pint of POR-15 Ford blue already, but I'm seriously considering changing my mind after seeing this thread.
351 Windsor isn't exactly the most traditional engine in the world either, but I did it anyway and I'm glad I did.
If you don't drive it much and it floats your boat OK, I did a SBC years ago with a gold tunnel ram and the gold anodized Moroso valve covers and oil pan against a black block even had the gold hose clamp covers,it was PIA keeping it clean. After a year I changed it.
If your engine is gonna "shine like gold" better name your ride "Smokestack Lightnin' ", ...dig that old Howlin'Wolf song!
Gotta be just about the sweetest nailhead I've ever seen! Like this set-up best, tri-power next, dual-quads last, ...all tastey though!
Saw this thread awhile back and like it. So mine wound up gold to in the end. Not finished yet but getting there slowly.
