That's one sexy ass! I like the belair trim gone, that cleans things up a bit. I would maybe try the 210 spears now. I now need to trade/buy those lights you cutt off for future use.

They look great and you should be really proud dude. That's gonna be awesome.

And am quite happy with it:)

So yesterday I woke up not feeling so hot called in to work, slept till 11 and woke up feeling much better so I decided to section that 53 caddy bumper, can I tell how much I don't like cutting down bumpers! It's always such a pita to get everything back the way it's supposed to be,

I also cut off the bottom 2" of those packards and started sectioning the bumper extensions and tig'd all back together so they'd be easier to get ready to rechrome, I was really nervous about them sectioning them but it was actually pretty easy... I took an 1.5" out but still not sure about them though, they put the bumper low, which looks awesome but is not too practical...

  14. This is a great example of a tasteful, well-done chop that adds to the looks of the car.

Chops are usually overdone...this one is perfect.

thanks brother I appreciate your compliment:)

speaking of taste, what do you guys think about the bumperettes (dagmar looking things) on the bumper?

I think they may be too big for this car?

    whats ya'lls thoughts?

  16. I like'm! If it were mine, I'd keep them!

But whatever you do, I'm sure it'll be the right thing!

    Del will dial!

Far too big. I'd get rid of those bumperettes but maybe see if if you can find a license plate surround that will work on there. There are the ones with a real sexy shape that are just tops that they put on earlier customs that would be cool.

If not french the license plate in crooked to the decklid pebblepusher style.

The tailights are lookin great. I think the bumper guards/dagmars are taking away from the flow you have going with the rest of the car though. Just my 2c

the problem is that the bumper is pretty sizeable so most tag surrounds would look a little off, ntm the bumper is recessed for a tag bracket already...

I have some 47 caddy bumperettes that I may try tonight, see how they look, theyre a little smaller but they also look kinda like they would be right at home on a 36 tail dragger so we'll see...

I also thought about running a kaiser over rider but that seems like it would be a bit of a waste seeing as how the caddy bumper already has exhaust run through them...

I was thinking of something like this which was said to be narrowed 4" to fit the license plate and he said something on 1" thinner to match the bumper.

There's another one that has a more organic shape but you get the point...

I'm pretty sure that's a 49 Chevy and that would be a little dainty for that bumper, I need something to cover the seams so I A. Don't have to get it re chromed and B. don't have to reconfigure the bumper as I left the factory seams in there are I was planning on using those bumperettes...

What about cutting the back of the '54 bumperettes to fit the contour. They are small and will be less in your face then those that were originally on that bumper.

Yes it was a '49 license plate surround I believe.

I was thinking the stock 54 bumperettes too. I have a NOS set that I am debating on modifying for mine or a set of 56 chevy fronts I am thinking about modifying to match more of the shape of the tailight shape

What about 57 Chevy front bumper dagmars... they are smaller but not too small.

looks great the bumper gives it a heavy look,i like that.but if you stand back the bumper needs to come down and be level with the bottom of the quater, otherwise the quarter hangs down.keep up the good work.

Since when is anything we do PRACTICAL? You've got to get that bumper back down low and use those sectioned extensions. The quarters can't be hanging down below the bumper.

By the way, nice work! I saw it in person today. I took a little break from working on the finishing touches on my hood and kind of glanced over my shoulder. I was like "wait a minute, something's different...DAMN!!!!".

yea i noticed that the bumper was a little high when I was posting those pics this morning. good call guys.

Maybe I'll weld castors to the bottom of my brackets so as to not drag my bumpers off :D

Good suggestion on the 54 bumperettes, god knows Ive got enough sets :)

I'll have to do a google image search in a sec to see what the 57's look like, I would recognize them if I saw em but I cant think what they would look like on the car?

as always thanks for the love and suggestions guys, feel free to post pics of any bumperettes that you think would look good :)
